This page lists another company at the same address as Sports Direct:

http://www.bview.co.uk/c/sports-goods-retail-sale/mansfield

Quote:
Tla Sports UK Pte Ltd
08703 339400 Unit A Brook Park East, Meadow Lane, Shirebrook, MANSFIELD, Nottinghamshire, NG20 8RY

Interestingly, a search of 192.com for
tla
in
ng20
reveals a list of "neighbours" of this company, also in Unit A!:

Brands Inc Ltd
Golddigga Brands Ltd
Gilesports Ltd
Field & Trek (uk) Ltd
Karrimor International Ltd
Original Shoe Company Ltd (tel 01290 423 094)
Mash Investments Ltd (tel 0870 333 9419)
Project J Newco No.11 Ltd
Queensberry Rules Ltd
Ibml

Only those two I have listed with telephone numbers have them listed.

Sports Direct and its 40 new companies

What's going on at Sports Direct? The retailer run by Mike Ashley (above) has set up 40 new companies, named Project J Newco No. 1 through to Project J Newco No. 40. Chief executive Dave Forsey and finance director Bob Mellors are cited as directors of some, as is the assistant company secretary Rebecca Tylee-Birdsall, and all have the same registered address as Sports Direct itself, in Shirebrook, Mansfield. Sports Direct won't tell us what it's up to, but if you know, or care to speculate, email us.

The warehouse/office that Sports Direct is in looks like a new one. See the satellite picture from Multimap/Bing:

http://www.multimap.com/maps/?lat=53.37001&lon=-1.1218&zoomFactor=10#map=53.1983...

This shows an empty plot of land and even the nearby roundabout and road superimposed on the grass. However, switch to Google maps and the road, roundabout and warehouse is there:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=ng20+8ry&sll=53.80...

See here for a shot inside the building:

7 June 2005

SportsWorld awards £5m contract to Affiniti to build foundation for 'Store of the Future' with converged voice, video & data services

    * End-to-end converged solution enabled by Affiniti, the newly merged Kingston/Omnetica business
    * First ever deployment of voice, video and data via DSL technology

Affiniti, the communications integrator created from the coming together of Kingston Communications Business Services, Omnetica and Technica, today announced a £5m, three-year contract with SportsWorld to conduct a technology refresh for its head office and 250 stores across the UK. SportsWorld, one of the fastest growing national retailers, is anticipating savings of £500k over the next three years with secure broadband connectivity and IP communications, including aggregated voice solutions and wireless technology, together with managed services.

SPORTS DIRECT GAINS ‘STORE OF THE FUTURE’

Sports Direct is the UK’s leading sports retailer by revenue and operating profit and the owner of several internationally recognised sports and leisure brands. Its approach to business is aggressive with a strong focus on cost optimisation and a highly innovative approach to technology.

Affiniti has been working with Sports Direct for a number of years and acts as a trusted advisor to this major international sports retailer.

Initially we upgraded the existing WAN infrastructure to support the delivery of voice over IP to all 400-plus stores, with a state of the art wireless network across the whole business. This provided thousands of access points and wireless controllers to enable software upgrades at the flick of a switch.

The wireless infrastructure also supports handheld computers so that staff can respond to stock and pricing queries from customers without having to leave the shop floor. It also means that stock records can be maintained in real-time, enabling the business to become considerably more dynamic. The solution further provides the foundation to explore and support other new technologies such as RFID, used for tracking stock palettes in transit.

Other projects have included the supply of new storage infrastructure and migrating the business to new headquarters in Shirebrook, Nottinghamshire. Sports Direct is now able to respond quickly to changes in the competitive retail marketplace and support ambitious growth plans.

“State of the art WAN, wireless technology and storage improvements have enabled us to realise our vision for the ‘Store of the future’,” said John Ashley, IT Director at Sports Direct. “Improving customer care is a major benefit of Affiniti’s innovative solutions. For example, the ‘always on’ broadband connections enable Sports Direct to provide a much speedier service to customers. They no longer have to wait while the company dials up for credit card authorisations - the broadband connection means staff can just swipe the card and the transaction is completed within seconds. Customers enjoy a better service and reduced queuing times.”

Hi

Can anyone help to find an alternative number for sports direct please the number I have been given starts - 0844.

I tried inputting sports direct and the number 08451299200 came up with the alternative number of 01268 347007. This number is constantly coming up with an engaged tone.

Thanx

Yes, you! Roll Eyes

How about helping those you are asking to help you by giving some basic information like the 0844 number in full, address etc as suggested in the instructions?

That's because, as was shown in another entry, the number is 01268 247007 and it is given by Universal Cycles.

We have looked at Sports Direct a number of times over the years and I have joined it to the existing thread.

Googling reveals that Universal Cycles as purchased by Sports Direct a few years ago. I would urge caution at the likelihood of successfully completing enquiries about Sports Direct by ringing Universal Cycles in Basildon. I am interested to hear any experiences customers have of trying this.

I have removed the unverified entries which linked Sports Direct 0845/0870 numbers with Universal Cycles 01268 number.

SportsDirect Number confirmed

I have just successfully rang the unconfirmed number "sports direct 0870 333 9400" and spoken to Customer Services who put me through to the Loughborough shop. All the shops are listed with 0844 numbers.

Just to clarify you dialed the 0870 number for customer services?

I supposed if you have inclusive calls to 0870 numbers that's one route..

Sadly as yet we still have no 01/02 alternatives for them.

Sad

Thanks for the feedback.

As CJT-80 says, we haven't managed to crack SportsDirect yet, so 0870 remains the best known alternative. I have listed the entry as verified with a note explaining that 0870 may be charged no more than 01/02/03 calls.
