LBM telemarketing
Apr 20th, 2006 at 11:25am

Hi, I've been receiving calls from these people after I purchased a new Vodafone sim, CID gives an 0800 0641081 number which contains a recorded message giving an 0845 8484800 number if I want them to stop. Surely there must be a free number. There is a website, but it doesn't give any freephone numbers AFAICT

Type lbm marketing into Google. The first link is to the LBM site at www.lbm.co.uk and the second is an entry in the Applegate directory.

Highly helful to some no doubt, but I've already put all the numbers I have given in google (for instance) AND found their website, I must say I missed Applegate, it wasn't second on my list,  but I thought the idea of this site generally was to not use geographical numbers, (which are only useful if you happen to live locally, but to try and find 0800 or 0806 numbers. Anyway thats what I was hoping to find.

Search for lbm marketing as opposed to lbm telemarketingWink

For the vast majority of people in this country, call charges to geographical numbers are the same, whether they be local or national from the caller's location. The only tariffs where there is a distinction are a minority of BT's tariffs, namely the Light User Scheme. In 2004 the BT Standard tariff was abolished, a package which did differentiate between local/national geographicals. Some nine million subscribers were moved onto BT Together Option 1, where a call from London to Glasgow costs the same as a call from London to London.

I would say the purpose is to provide cheaper alternatives than the 0870 numbers, be they geographic numbers, 0800 numbers, or even (as a last resort) 0845 numbers.
As Dave has said, the cost of calling geographic numbers does not usually depend on distance these days.

Also to be noted is that so-called 'freephone' numbers are usually far from free when using a mobile and generally cosy MORE than geographic numbers.

Anyway, what's an 0806 number?

Well, personally, I think the whole idea of 08 numbers is a con, designed to confuse people into thinking they might be getting something free. The range of price from BT goes from 7.51 to 1.00 varies in the evening AND weekend etc etc. AND it should be free in this case. Why should I have to pay money to get these people to stop trying to sell me something?

Well if people are stupid enough to call freefone numbers on mobiles....

Someone has entered 0161 6160700 for Sky Broadband, saying that this was the number that a call was received from. It is out of service, but following numbers answer as O2 Sales Line and Vodafone as well as Scottish Power.

0161 6160723 identifies the company as LBM

Reception number is 0161 6160500

Loads more numbers on Google. See hereWink
