For the vast majority of people in this country, call charges to geographical numbers are the same, whether they be local or national from the caller's location. The only tariffs where there is a distinction are a minority of BT's tariffs, namely the Light User Scheme. In 2004 the BT Standard tariff was abolished, a package which
did differentiate between local/national geographicals. Some nine million subscribers were moved onto BT Together Option 1, where a call from London to Glasgow costs the same as a call from London to London.
