18185 don't appear to have that restriction, yet, and still only charge 4p connection.

Its hard to figure why they are now charging 5p per call with 18866 when this was originally their cheapest 1p per call brand.  Yet 1899 remains at 3p per call.

I wonder if in fact the different Finarea brands are in fact franchises being marketed by different people?  On the whole that seems unlikely but why would Finarea be trying to kill a brand they originally marketed to the most price sensitive of their customers?  Prices on 18185 seem to remain very stable and both 0870 and mobile calls with 18185 continue to offer excellent value.

Of course I believe in practice that Finarea do possibly also pay a time related charge too as well as a connection fee but although some calls last 70 minutes there are so many that only last just a few seconds (answerphone or 1571 answering) that the average call length is not that long.

For some reason they simply seem to want to kill off 18866 though and force everyone to migrate to 1899 or 18185 although I still haven't really figured out why.

Perhaps though they are worried about the 118866 possible misdial directory ripoff although if that is the case then why don't they simply close 18866 down?
