On a good day you can get a NGN of small companies by using the 118 numbers. I have checked the company an after on line but found an 0870 number. Thanks Oby

Well done oby, that's an excellent use of the system.
Any chance that you might be able to add the 01/02 numbers and their 0870s/names to this website, please?

IIRC, the alternative BT DQ services on 118707 (@ a fixed fee of 29p - from a BT landline - per single enquiry) is currently one of the cheapest if you have to phone.

Usually 192.com for finding geographical numbers of companies that have changed to NGNs as it seems to have what might be classed as out of date information. Sometimes it brings up entries from a  company's previous address or out of service numbers. I notice that there is the occasional mistake with 192.com like two digits crossed, so that's where BT DQ comes in.

Also, for businesses, I look at Yell.com and Thomson.

And if you are on the move and can't get to a PC, you can lookup numbers with BT DQ on a WAP mobile at:
wap.bt.com/wap/dq/dqws.jsp
