Hi, I am new to all this and hope I have done it correctly - I am looking for a Geographical phone number for ARCHOS in the UK - I have an 0870 number but would like a geographical number for them.

The number I have is 0870 6091693 - I have one of their MP3 players that has died on me and want to contact them to find out how much it will cost to be repaired. I got the above number by phoning Technical Support. They are based I think in Holland and told me I had to ring the 0870 number. I get FREE geographical phone numbers with my ISP and do not want to be charged the earth to make this phone call.

Is there anyone out there who can help in this request.

If I have used the wrong place then please let me know and I will stop using this area.

There are a few numbers in the unverified list. Technical support is down as 020 79490115. I can't guarantee that it will work, so please post back whether it does or not.

I have edited the title of the thread; having all the threads in the Requests section being called "Geographical number request" or something similar would be awfully confusing. In future, make the thread title the company's name. Please have a read of the instructions for posting a request, if you have them, supply an address, website address and any other useful information.

Ah right.

Other numbers to try, which are listed in the unverified database for Archos are 01264 366022 (no description) and for Returns, tel: 023 80711779, fax: 023 80839259.

The Archos contact page gives a Southampton PO Box:

The fax number is the same as the one I quoted from the database.

01264 is the code for Andover which is 20 odd miles from Southampton. Googling "01264 366022" returns many results that suggest that it is for Archos.

Hi Dave,

I promised I would get back to you with the results of the number you kindly obtained for me for Archos UK, I rang the number yesterday before going to work and the number "01264 366022" was in service but for a different company - they gave me an alternative 0870 number but that did not throw any light on a different one so was forced to phone the original 0870 number that I got from technical support, I was only on the line for about 3 mins which was not bad considering the cost of these calls. The guy I spoke to took some details and rang me back within 10 mins with the answer. My phone came up with the number he was calling from. I am not sure if it is a direct dial number or not but have included it here in this posting - it may come in useful for others - if it is a normal number.

number is : 023 80711779

The "023" at the start may well be an internal code but am not sure just how phone numbers are constructed.
