Jobs fears at two Wigan companies
MORE than 200 jobs are in jeopardy as two major Wigan employers founder.
Only two years after rescuing the stricken De Roma Ices business, Richmond Ice Cream says it is considering the closure of its Poolstock plant.
While bosses of the newly taken-over firm say there may be job opportunities for some of its 120 employees at other factories there would definitely be redundancies if Wigan closed.
Meanwhile another 100 workers face at Martland Mill-based Homebuy Direct face an anxious future after the firm went into administration.

David Hargrave, Rob Hunt, Graham Martin and Zelf Hussain from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP were appointed joint administrators to Homebuy Group last Friday.

A spokesman for PricewaterhouseCoopers said it was not usual to discuss staff pay issues with the press but said that if Homebuy employees had concerns about wages they could ring a helpline on (0870) 428 1497.
