I think you will find that DaveM's post is 18 months old and it isn't up to date.

A search on the Royal Mail website reveals that the company at P O Box 9340, Dunoon PA23 8WQ is in fact DDL Mail Order Services.

They have a geographical fax number of 0136 970 1187 according to their website so you could try some nearby numbers like 0136 970 1180 or in a similar format (0136 970 1xxx).

As for trying other 01369 701xxx numbers, I'm not so sure. It doesn't look like there will be a block of numbers as Google reveals:

• 01369 701000 is the local office of the Scottish Tourist Board
• 01369 701100 is Scottish Foods and Hampers
• 01369 701170 is Riverside Leisure Centre
• 01369 701180 is a group of financial advisors
• 01369 701190 is Klothing Closet

This page says that Database Direct is one of Dunoon's largest employers. 192.com says that the company employed 100 people in February. DD's own website says that the call centre is based in Dunoon. So it must have some 01369 numbers for each 08xx number for every company it provides services for.

The Genius 200 number 01369 708029 now answers with a recording (not an automatic network announcement) saying that the number is no longer in service. I thought perhaps they have similar numbers 01369 708xxx.

I've found that 01369 708010 is the Ticket line for Wembley Exhibition Centre. Obviously Wembley is no where near Scotland, so I can only assume that it the ticket bookings is (or were at some time) contracted out to Database Direct. Another ticket line is on 01369 708007, see here.

01369 708200 belongs to TSC, so Database Direct numbers may go up to 01369 708199.

Thanks for all the advice and help so far, for some reason the company are very very insistent on using 0870 numbers. So much so that reception on regular number refused to forward my call to the approprate section, or could not (find that hard to understand). Have sent several emails with very poor response, so the earlier comment on customer focus was interesting, as I think that is seriously lacking not at all like the approach normally demonstrated by American companies unfortunately.
