Can I ask why you use 08* based phone numbers now?
Do you know these are classed as premium rate numbers?
Did you know that people pay an excess of 5p a minute to call this,
where as it could be as low as zero pence per minute?
Can you supply me with the alternative 0141 number please?
    if not, why would you not release this number?
Do you realise the call quality of your recordings are verging on very bad?

tx for your message. We are in the process of upgrading our telephony system and our new supplier recommended an 0800 number as part of that.  The cost to the caller is 5p per minute from BT landlines - not a premium rate number as just slightly above a local rate charge. If you prefer you can call our call centre direct on 0141 420 5010.
The recordings are in the process of being changed because, as you note, they are not very clear.

Now thats not too bad a reply, but can you see what too many people still class as a non-premium rate number? Yes, all too common.. Their 5010 number can be added to the database along with the other one I added last time.

Thank you very much for the reply, it has been ever so helpful. However,
may I take a little of your time, perhaps to correct a small error, to
which I would understand you perhaps don't fully realise.

The line that reads"/not a premium rate number as just slightly above a
local rate charge/" makes it out that it is not /bad./ But the fact of
the matter is that it
is and is covertly so by nature, which makes it worse.

That said, I am delighted your lines will be moving to 0800 in the
future. I look forward to having a copy of this number. Also Im pleased
to hear that the recordings will be made clearer to understand.

Furthermore, I would like to take this moment and saying I am still very
much a happy regular, and I indeed hope that Santa will drop me off a
membership card to enjoy the science centre whenever I wish!

apologies if I seemed to be glossing over your concerns - that was certainly not my intent. I can appreciate that some people may not be comfortable using the 0800 call centre number and could still use our 0141 number if they wish. Though I have to be honest and say that I hope this would not be the case as only the 0800 number will have the call queue management system on it and the call centre staff are trained to handle all sorts of enquiries. We have noted the charge on the website and on our literature so as to be as open as possible about it. As a charity GSC struggles to raise all the funding we require and the very small amount that the 0800 number will generate will go back into exhibit and programme development.
I'm so glad that you are a regular visitor and enjoy your time spent here - I'll pass that onto the staff.
