Quite often companies have different 084/087 numbers. I imagine that they this company publicises different 0871 numbers in different places (TV, magazines, news papers etc). That way they can see how their marketing is doing and what gets most custom by looking at the call statistics on the different numbers.
As far as alternatives goes, one number may well work as a suitable one for all.
