Just a note to congratulate ADSL Wholesale supplier
www.entanet.co.uk for quietly removing from their website the previous claims that existed until only a few days ago that their 0870 number was National Rate. It seems that someone at Entanet must have been reading the thread about Freeola that was going on here unless of course someone at Freeola emailed them to point out the complaint about the misdescription of Entanet's 0870 number. Or perhaps another forum member emailed them about it.
While not condoning Entanet's midsdescription of their 0870 number as National Rate in spite of ASA and other guidances they do at least have some excuse on the basis that until 1st July 2004 it did cost the same as National Rate for a basic BT Standard customer. Whereas there has never been any excuse for misdescribing the fairly recent introduced 0871 covert premium rate code as being National Rate. Also unlike Freeola Entanet do not go to endless lenghts to hide their real geographic numbers which are listed at
www.192.com and in the Unverified number alternatives section of this database. And to be fair to Entanet a call to those geographic alternatives revealed them to be answered instantly.
So although I was a little disappointed about Entanet misdescribing 0870 as National Rate I regard it as far less serious than Freeola doing this with their 0871 number, especially in view of Entanet also maintaining ways of customers who do not like/cannot afford 0870 numbers calling them on a normal geographic number instead.
In any case can we chalk up another victory for the power of opinions expressed on this site about misdesribed 084/7 numbers prompting the guilty company into taking the appropriate corrective action.
