But notice how Ofcom is only prepared to confront issues which reflect administrative incompetence by these companies in being able to set up a computerised calling system - an issue which will actually save these companies money in wasted phone calls when they get it fixed. They will not tackle issues that cost them lots of money like banning 084/7 numbers or flagrantly calling customers who are registered with the TPS with a manned phone call (in the case of Bracken Bay and Space Kitchens).
And I'm sure fines of a few tens of thousands are really likely to put the frighteners up these large companies? A fine about the same as a quarter of the annual bonus payment for an Ofcom Board Director I would imagine.
On manned calls breaching TPS rules Ofcom passes the buck to the Information Commissioner's Office who are even more totally useless and ineffective than Ofcom only ever sending the scammers polite letters suggesting they might prefer not to do it again!
The ICO being the same people who now of course have an 0845 number!
