0800 NUMBERS
Feb 1st, 2007 at 9:01am

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHETHER THERE'S A WEBSITE SIMILAR TO THIS ONE WHICH LISTS GEOGRAPHICAL NUMBERS INSTEAD OF 0800 NUMBERS?
SOUNDS STRANGE, I KNOW, BUT THE REASON I'M ASKING IS THAT IF YOU DIAL AN 0800 NUMBER FROM YOUR MOBILE, (FOR EXAMPLE, IN THE EVENT OF HAVING TO CALL FOR BREAKDOWN ASSISTANCE) YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CALL-AND QUITE HEAVILY.
OBVIOUSLY GEOGRAPHICAL NUMBERS WOULD BE MORE USEFUL IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE.
KEEP ME POSTED!!
THANKS, ADELE

Adele,

Just for future reference, please don't type in ALL CAPS. It is bad netiquette - it makes it seem as if you are shouting or angry about something.

Also, for certain 0800 numbers in the database, there are geographic alternatives listed. Try searching for the company you have an 0800 number for and see if a geographic is listed in the database. Also, companies are sometimes willing to give out the geographic alternative for 0800 numbers if you ring and explain that you are using your mobile and it is cheaper to ring a landline number. If you do happen to get hold of an alternative, and it isn't listed in the database, can you add it please? Smiley

Hi Adele,

This site is all for listing 0800 numbers aswell as geographicals. I have added some 0800 and geographicals (ie, no 084x/087x numbers) to the database when I find them.

If you are still after a geographical in place of a 0800, then I suggest that you post a request.

Also, there are a couple of 020 dial-through numbers you can use to call 0800 from mobiles at geographical rates (ie out of inclusive minutes, if applicable). Have a look in the Cheap Call Providers section.  Wink
