Primus announcement
Feb 4th, 2007 at 10:14pm

Using an Orchid Ranger phone with Primus preprogrammed for Evening and Weekend calls. Dialled a National number tonight and heard what sounded like 18185 announcement prior to connection "Zero pence per minute". Do Primus use this announcement during evening and weekend periods ? Checked my routing table which shows 0 for weekend and evenings.

See http://www.call18185.com/index2.php, rate for UK local/national at any time of day is 0p/minute, with "startup fee 4p or 5p for calls within the UK".

No, Primus do not have any announcement.

Thanks. Have checked my online invoice at 18185 and the call was routed via 18185, as were 2 other evening calls last week. Prior to that no evening/weekend calls appear on my invoice. Have emailed Orchid with screen shot of the invoice.

I had a similar problem with an orchid dialler except it was not dialling 18185 as it was meant to so just defaulted back to CPS (also Primus).  Orchid replaced the dialler.

I'm surprised that it's dialling extra digits (ie 18185) when it shouldn't though.  What times have you setup as evening, etc or is the time wrong on the box.

I'd double check the settings through CW client and then phone home again (ensuring the update has been downloaded correctly and it didn't give up half way).

Sounds like your Orchid has lost its day/time settings to me.

Force it to call home to pick up your program and the time again.

How can you tell when a lawyer's lying?  His (or her) lips move.

Yes, that is the problem if you don't realise you've had a power cut.

An Orchid V4 Plus (which has mains power AND is powered by the BT line) will usually keep its time setting but a Ranger 400 relies solely on the mains power to do so.

I have just started having similar problems with a V4 dialler. I was thinking of conacting Orchid but is there any way they can view my settings?

Yes, via your CW Client account (which, presumably, you used to set it up in the first place).

I'd suggest a manual re-set of the V4's time (you're going to have to go through this procedure on Sunday week [25/3/07] anyway - when the clocks change to BST again - so it might be a good time to teach yourself the sequence).

BTW, have you considered THIS?  Saves all the hassle of updating the dialler's program yourself.

Great info. Thanks for that. I wasn't aware that you had to set the time manually. I thought that the dialler would have picked up the current time\date settings when it was forced to call the server to pick up any other settings that had been changed. Is it the case that you have to set the time manually?

As RatAtAt says, you don't have to set the Ranger's time manually - I only suggested that way of doing so as a quicker alternative to the force home procedure.

BTW, don't forget you'll need to update the time this coming Sunday (25/3/07).  A lot of people will be doing the force home on Sunday so the manual procedure might well be quicker then!

That isn't the case if your Ranger's one of those registered for the semi-automatic update system - if so the force home procedure will be necessary to pick up the new program.
