Sony Credit Card - 0870 036 2444

Hi all

I'm new to this forum so forgive any faux pas.

I'm looking for the geographical number for the Sony Card customer services. They offer bonus points for spending on their card but you have to dial 0870 036 2444 to collect any benefits.

I'm miffed by the fact that they offered 4000 bonus points then only gave me 2000. Then they replied to may email saying that I have to call the 0870 number for all queries.

The terms and conditions for the Sony Credit Card give the address for correspondence as:

SONY
1 ST HELENS UNDERSHAFT

From 192.com the phone number for this address is: 020 7444 9713

Suggest you try this number. If they say that you have to dial the 0870 number tell them that numbers starting with 08 are barred by the switchboard your call has to go through and would they please transfer you.

A Google of IP98 1SY reveals that it is used for various promotions from Sony. This thread says that the card is issued by MBNA, is that still the case?

I thought initially that the address will be for MBNA, but now I don't believe it to be the case. The dialling code for Diss is 01379 and a Google of sony 01379 reveals some numbers. Perhaps a clue as to what number range they use for their Diss office.

For starters, I would try 01379 649 499.

I found it impossible to find an alternative to the 0870 036 2444 number given on the Sony Card website.They kept giving me different numbers when I insisted, but non of them got through to the Pulsebeats reward scheme. Orders can't be made through the website. I eventually rang the Sony Cusstomer sarisfaction Helpline and inssted they connect me, otherwise I was going to cancel my Credit Card while on the phone.This worked [color=#ff3300][/color] Grin

I just rang MBNA intending to cancel an unwanted Sony credit card when I discovered I have 11,020 Pulsebeats and, having forgotten completely what that means, I kept pressing buttons (MBNA uses 0800 CS numbers but convoluted menus) until I managed to speak to someone who understood English.

The woman gave me a website url and started to give me an 0870 number too. I stopped her and told her I don't call 087 numbers - whereupon she told me, "It's a free number" and refused to believe me when I advised her it wasn't.

Nothing changes.

Hi

Has anybody found a geographical phone number for Sony Pulsebeats yet please (0870 036 2444)?

I need to phone them to spend my expiring points on a DVD and it's not worth my while paying 10p per minute to phone an 0870 number just to get that (my phone provider is Jersey Telecom).

I tried phoning MBNA but they just said they couldn't put me through and told me to call 0870 036 2444.

Ok, this is probably not the number you are looking for but at least it is a number that you can phone and tell them that phoning an 0870 number from Jersey is expensive and perhaps, they might give you the geographical number you want....on the other hand pigs might fly Smiley

Thanks, appreciate your reply, I'll consider doing that if nothing else turns up, but surely there must be a way to find out the geographical number, I'm not impressed by the covert tactics used by the Sony Rewards Programme in getting some money back from these hard earned rewards.

See reply #4 above. I posted this address previously along with a local number which I asked for feedback on, which I have yet to receive.

The number is 01379 649 499 and is answered by a female voice as "Sony Hotline Customer Services".

0870 036 2444 is answered by the same voice as "Sony Card Customer Services".

The wording of the messages is the same on both numbers, bar the second word after "Sony". So I think we are getting warm.

Well, I just phoned 01379 649 499 and asked to redeem Sony Pulsebeats.

Used all my charm and nicety, usually quite persuasive.

The woman who answered the phone told me that I'd dialled the wrong number and had to dial 0870 036 2444.

I explained that my landlord wouldn't let me dial an 0870 number...

She said sorry, she was under instruction not to put anybody through.

I told her that 0870 numbers cost 10p per minute in the daytime from my landline provider and that there ought to be a geographical number.

She said yes, there is, but she's under strict instructions not to give that out and that Sony Pulsebeats can only be redeemed by phoning the 0870 number.

I'm of the opinion that Sony Pulsebeats are worthless and have little or no value because you have to spend so much to get them and the items they can be redeemed against are very expensive and still Sony want to profit from the phone calls you have to make to redeem the hard-earned points.

The earphones I wanted cost 3300 Sony Pulsebeats, you have to spend £3300 pounds on an MBNA card to get 3300 Sony Pulsebeats, probably costs a £1 for a ten minute call to make the redemption, the earphones are on sale at one retailer listed on www.froogle.co.uk for £19.99 - as a loyalty program, Sony Pulsebeats have little or no value and the customer service assistant sounded very frustrated with my question and stopped just short of telling me she wasn't interested!

Shame on you Sony!

As I said above, the fact that the 01379 649 499 number and 0870 036 2444 are both answered by the same female voice with very similar wording suggest that we are getting very warm.

I have listed this number in the database as it is an identical match to the 0870 one. If anyone knows of any of the other 08xx non-geographical numbers that direct to the other three, please post her and I will list them as well.
