Dr Who "Battles in Time" magazine

Angry

Subscription line for this magazine is 0871 2770067 and I get totally sick of hearing how important my call is to them whilst I'm waiting in the queue.  I bet it is earning 10p every minute they keep me hanging on!

It's been over a month since they've had my money and still no sign of the issues to bring my daughter's collection up to date.  They claim they would have sent a reminder that the subscription needed renewing, but we didn't get any such communication.

The last time I phoned them to complain I hung on until I got to the front of the queue, only to have the ringing tone cut out, replaced with that damned music again and to be told I was further back in the queue than when I first joined.  No sincerity to the 'apology' I got about that and certainly no offer to compensate me for the £1 it cost just to get nowhere in their system!

My daughter has been very patient and I suppose I ought to bite the bullet and phone again about the continued non-appearance of the magazines, but I'm loath to do so whilst I am being forced to pay just to complain about their poor service.

The magazine is published by GE Fabbri Ltd, Convent Garden, London.  The Back Issues can be ordered from a company called Database Factory Ltd, Ringwood, Hants.  But there's no clue as to which company handles the telephone subscription service.

Can anyone help?

If you search the database for "GE Fabbri" you will find some alternatives for subscriptions for other magazines.

Also, Data Base Factory UK (rather than Database Factory UK) is 01425 462800 amongst others. They also have a freephone number 0800 5286699, but I don't know whether they will take your enquiry on it. The website is http://www.dbfactory.co.uk/

I suggest you call Data Base Factory as I know they deal with other magazines as well as other things like special DVD collection promotions many of which, of course, use 0871 numbers.

Thanks - Didn't expect an answer as quick as that!

I did try searching for the magazine title and Fabbri before posting but must have mistyped the publisher because i didn't turn up anything.  The inside of the magazine writes the company name as Database Factory but as you say it is bound to be the firm.  It's not in the same section as the phone line details but I wish I'd noticed it before posting.

Thanks for the details.  I'll report back on how I get on.

Phoned GE Fabbri on 0207 8360519 (on the basis that the equivalent 0871 number was similar to that published in Dr. Who Battles in Time).  Got put through without any trouble to someone from Database Factory.  Obviously able to view exactly the same system as call handlers on the 0871 number, and because we didn't have a great line even phoned me back.  Able to resolve the issue for me, and no 10p per minute clocking up.

I'm sure a lot of calls on the 0871 number are handled sufficiently quickly, especially new subscriptions, so I'm not saying don't shun their use completely.  But if you have a more complex query or consistently end up holding in the queue it does seem to be a route that can get results at normal phone rates.
