You will have to try it and see; whether they will accept the call when you dial via the 020 or 0845 numbers. You could also try without 141 because it isn't forced to make any difference, other than to stop your number appearing on their caller display.

Thanks for your comments - here goes...the results of what I tried over last weekend:-

The 0208 number still works...I prefixed this with 141; the call was picked up and answered...no problems.

The 0845 number still works......I prefixed this with 141, the call was picked up and I even went live on air in a show.

Not once was I told what number I should be calling etc.....i.e. the 0901 one.....

But shock, horror, they have now gone and also changed their text number from Text: 07793 981458 to.....64643 - £1 per text!!!    Angry    Shocked

So, there goes that option too.....I will now carry on using the email option which is still available, as well as still dialling the 0208 and 0845 numbers until they are stopped/we are told to dial the 0901 number!

Any further comments?

Thanks and regards

Hello Happy37,

I would be extremely careful of the short 5 digit codes for mobiles - they can be expensive as you have found out.

Thanks for letting me know - don't think I'll be using this short code at all, unless I absolutely have to, or am desperate!

NOT!!!

Any further thoughts/comments on this, please?

Personally, I avoid texting any company and I also don't give out my mobile number to these organisations either because they may use it for marketing purposes.

I don't see any reason to text any radio station that offers an e-mail address. The cost of sending an SMS is usually more than that of an e-mail and when you condsider that they are both probably received on the same computer, there seems little advantage in texting.

Good morning everyone...

Here's a further update for anyone else who listens to this station, or participates in their shows by phoning in, texting or sending an email:-

The 0208 number still works.....    Smiley    Wink    Grin

The 0845 number no longer works......the station has now reserved this number to be used only in 1 particular show on a Sunday each and every weekend from 10am to 12noon.

This is the only time that this number works - it does not work at all after 12noon - a recorded voice says that this number is unrecognised.

The text option is still the same - texts are still sent to 64643 - £1 per text!!!    Angry    Shocked

Yet another brand new phone number has been introduced - the station went from using the 0208 number to 0845, then they moved to 0901 360 1458

(£1 flat rate).

This has now been stopped, and lo and behold:-

We are now told to use:-

0906 739 0010

(£1 a minute)    Angry    Shocked

So, I think I know what my options are from here onwards:-

Email and phone (0208) number until it is stopped for good!!!!!

Any comments - please feel free to add to my post.

Regards

Where is/are the e-mail address(es) provided?

If there's just one, such as studio@ then I could add this to the database.

Or if each presenter has their own for the purpose of receiving e-mails during their shows, then perhaps a note could be added to suggest that messages can be sent by this mode.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

The email addresses are normally given/read out during the shows by each respective presenter.

The presenters used to have their own, personal email addresses such as xxxx.xxxx@sunriseradio.com (xxxx.xxxx being the name in firstname.lastname format).

This was stopped and replaced with the one generic studio@sunriseradio.com email address.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I've added this e-mail address to the entry giving the studio's 020 number.

All,

Good morning - here's another update:-

As of yesterday, the 0208 number has now got a recording on there saying that that the number has been changed to:-

The Reception number which is 020 8574 6666 - there is no option on that phone menu to say that the studio can be dialled from this number (I have just dialled this number and listened to the menu options)

So, lo and behold, the options that are left are the 0906 739 0010 (£1 a minute) number, the 64643 (£1) per text option, and the generic studio@sunriseradio.com email address.

Does anyone now know of any other alternative telephone number(s) to the studio that can still be used in place of the expensive 0906 number?

Any thoughts/comments/suggestions welcome - methinks that I will be using the email option more from here onwards.

Thanks in advance.

This is a network-based announcement redirecting to the reception number, as opposed to a recording played out by the company itself. This suggests to me that the incoming 020 number for the studio line has been changed so as to ensure that all callers are charged the premium rate.

I believe that it would be against the rules to make the redirection message read out a 09 number, hence the reason it gives the reception number.

I can only think of two who will know this. The radio station's telephone provider and those in the radio station who have requested the change. I think it's safe to say that none of the above will be willing to divulge the number to you, or any other customer... err listener.

I also note that the unverified studio number we had for sister station, Kismat Radio, 020 8813 8900, now also has a network redirection message to the reception number. I guess that its published studio number is probably 09 now, although its contact page still shows 0845 189 1035 which is not recognised. Lips Sealed

Hi Dave

Good morning - thanks for clarifying these numbers for the database.

As of yesterday, I have heard that Sunrise Radio is now advertising a new "phone-in" phone number:-

0844 456 1458 (they are saying that this costs 5p a minute)

(Instead of the £1 a minute 0906 739 0010)

Could you please tell me what the REAL cost of calling this number will be from a landline or a mobile?

I am just curious to know and make the comparison between the cost of the old 0906 number and this new one. I'm sure that there is a flat cost of connecting the call, even though it may be 5p a minute as stated.

Grateful for any clarification on this point, please.

I don't know or have not heard the new "phone-in" number for the sister station, Kismat Radio.

Once I get that or hear of it, I will pop back on here to let everyone know.

Many thanks.

happy37

(PS - Any ideas of how I can try to find the alternative local number for the new 0844 one???)

That depends on who your land line provider is. Of course, from a mobile it will cost a fortune

Hi sherbert

Thanks for your reply.

I tried the new Sunrise number earlier this afternoon, with the following results:-

A call lasting for about 2 and a half minutes cost £0.89p.

Another call for slightly longer cost £0.94p.

These are miles better than the 0906 number which I called in June which cost nearly £6.50p at £1 a minute!!!

Your thoughts/comments will be most welcome, as well as by others.

Any ideas of how I can try to find the alternative local number for the new 0844 one, please?

The new 0844 number for the sister station to Sunrise, Kismat Radio is:-

0844 456 1035

Regards

My wife telephoned our doctor (0844 number Angry) from our BT land line in the afternoon a couple of weeks ago. She was on the phone for 5 minutes and 52 seconds and it cost 40 pence according to my latest bill. That will be ex VAT.

Hope that helps.
