The DVLA stealth tax disgrace.  It was apparently possible to dial the switchboard 01792 783071 and then ask for driver or vehicle enquiries.  Now you get "this service has been discontinued".  Don't despair (yet) instead dial the geographical no for the switchboard 01792 782341 as shown in the main database.  You then have to go thro the options jungle but at least not on the outrageous charge of 0870!!
