DHL give their 0870 garbage
Aug 14th, 2007 at 1:48pm

DHL Loughborough lost a parcel of mine.
i rang the company that i bought it off and luckily for me it was a geographical number so i could hold a long conversation for free with my V/M XL package.
having waited 2 months for DHL to produce the signature they said they had (that i was supposed to have signed) i began to get a little irritated. i rang them to be faced with this: -

me: hello, could you give me a geographical land line number i may call you back on please?
dhl: sorry sir i believe all of our lines are 0870
me: ok, could you ring me back on my number please, it's regarding an item i paid for 2 months ago and you have lost
dhl: sorry sir we can only take incoming calls
me: excuse me? are you trying to tell me that you do not have any outgoing line within your company at all?
dhl: no sir ours are all incoming only
me: i hope you never reach a state of emergency then, you'll never get hold of the police. ok then, seeing as i have no choice but to pay to sort out your mistake i would like to know why it has taken your department 2 months so far and you still have not produced a signature that is meant to be mine?
dhl: sorry sir, if you have a problem you need to contact the company you purchased the item from
me: i have done and they are most helpfull, they even provide a phone number i can contact them on free of charge. however, they are not at fault here your company is. somebody has either delivered my parcel to the wrong address or they have stolen it. i would like you to prove my signature
dhl: sorry sir you need to speak to the company you purchased it from
me: excuse me, did you not hear anything i just said?
dhl: sorry sir i cannot help you, you need to speak to the company you purchased it from
me: for gods sake i just told you i have done several times. they are waiting for you to fax a copy of my signature over to them, which so far, has taken you 2 months and still no signature
dhl: sorry sir i cannot help you
me: ok then, at my further expense through this "Pay Per Call" number you use, could you connect me to your manager please
dhl: sorry sir all the managers are out of the office at the moment
me: so who makes the decisions of importance in their absence?
dhl: ok sir ill try to put you through

dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

i rang the company i purchased the item from again. they are a big company and were very annoyed at the conversation i had just had. within 20 minutes the manager had rang me back and said that Dhl have now admitted a "loss in post" and were prepared to pay full compensation.

all of that above will not get included in the refunded value of the package lost. it annoys me that they still make a profit out of me when they lost my parcel

Now that you're aware of our site you can find a geographical number for DHL 'Customer Services' Grin by entering their name in the search box....

Sorry to hear about your parcel - they wouldn't treat Formula 1 that way!
