By way of introduction I run a vehicle breakdown assistance and recovery company.  I have always detested 0870 numbers and a significant selection of third party vehicle recovery operators use them to supplement income.  Thankfully the regulatory body has cottoned on to this and I have been informed that revenue sharing activities will cease post Feb 2008.

As we liaise with insurance companies a lot I've noticed that we dial some horrible numbers excessively many of which I have managed to obtain geographic numbers for either when the company telephones (via caller identification) or using the power of the internet.

This company has me stumped however:

Why do I need the number? - We call them with respect to collecting vehicles from our secured storage yard.
