London South Bank Uni (LSBU) - Dante Road Halls
Oct 24th, 2007 at 7:50pm

Hi there,

Number I've been given is 0870 036 ****, but obviously is costing people a lot to ring this.

Full Address is

Block * Flat * Room *
Dante Road Student Residence
Dante Road,
SE11 4RX

Any help with finding a cheaper number would be fantastic.

Cheers

Any other clues such as the operator's name? When you call an outside number (eg mobile) what number does it give on the receiver's caller display?

0870 036 is allocated to Primus Telecommunications, change date 04/1998

Within London (020) STD code Primus has:

020 32951 (Date: 09/2006)
020 7195 (Date: 02/2004)
020 7669 (Date: 05/1999)

Try these last 2 followed by the last four digits of the extension number (or the first followed by the last three, if you think the system pre-dates 09/2006).

Please provide some feedback on what works and also what doesn't.

Thanks for the help,

I've tried my extension with each of the numbers you gave, with the following results:

7669 - Busy Tone
7197 - Wrong Number
32951 - Wrong Number

The provider is Primus Communications and when receiving a call it comes up as number unknown.

Again, thanks for any more help with this.

I presume your extension is four digits. Is that right?
Roughly how many phones (rooms) are there?

It may be that the incoming number matches the last 2 or 3 digits of the extension, so you could try:

For example, your extension is 4567. Try:

020 7669 0567, 020 7669 1567, 020 7669 2567 through to 020 7669 9567

My extension is four digits, I've tried the last three digits of my extension and changing the first digit with the following results:

0 - Busy
1 - Call Ended
2 - Call Ended
3 - Busy
4 - Ringing, but my room phone didn't ring
5 - Wrong Number
6 - Busy
7 - Wrong Number
8 - Wrong Number
9 - Wrong Number

In these halls there are 6 rooms per flat, 12 flats per block and 12 blocks (I think), which by my reckoning is 864 rooms in total.

Hopefully that is all useful information

Cheers

I presume that this is for 020 7669.

Do the same for 020 7197.

Let us know the results for each as you have done for this one. Am I right that "wrong number" means it's not in service? If someone answers, you could ask them whether they are the LSBU accommodation. That will give us a big clue as to where the 020 numbers are. It will then be the case of working out how internal extension numbers relate to the 020s.
