Lewisham Jobcentre Plus & Belfast Benefit Centre
Nov 14th, 2007 at 12:50pm

Lewisham Jobcentreplus has only been open a couple of years; the old geo-number for Catford just rings and they only give out 0845 numbers: eg lone parent support 0845 377 4089. Listed number is generally 0845 377 1000 which I suspect goes through to Belfast processing centre (possibly the same as below).

The address is Lewisham Jobcentreplus, 9-19 Rushey Green, Catford, London SE6 4AW. Local code is 020.

Stand down on the following for now; I had the inspiration of putting quotes round the postcode when googling and came up with 028-9023-4920 which I'll try next time... unless of course, you know better already!

The other end of the system that I'm still chasing for my daughter is Belfast Benefit Centre, who deal with processing new claims & changes of circumstance.
Their given number is 0845 608 8770 and they have the cheek to put "my direct line" on their letters. You first get a call centre menu to choose which benefit you're chasing, which means that you're paying for the age that you have to wait before someone picks up as well.

Their address is Belfast Benefit Delivery Centre, Plaza Building, 31/41 Chichester St, Belfast BT1 4JF

02890 is Belfast.
You may have actually answered your own question.

Most of the London Job Centres still have geographical numbers but Lewisham is not one of them.

See: http://www.kfuk.co.uk/files/NI-kontorer.doc
http://www.get-uk-jobs.com/London-job-centres.html

There seem to be only two Job Centres in the London postcode area with 0845 numbers, Lewisham and Greenwich.  The 0845 number is a call centre the geographic locations of which one does not know.

You could ring one of the other Job Centres in South London with a geographical number such as Camberwell, Brixton, Woolwich, Streatham, Kennington  etc. If you have a general query they can probably help, alternatively ask if they can transfer you.

the 0845 377 1000 number is listed in the database for two Job Centres, both of which are North of the Thames and outside the London postcode area (Harrow and Uxbridge), i.e. nowhere near Lewisham. The geographical equivalents are in the database.

By the way, do you want to call the Job Centre from a mobile or payphone?

I have also found 0845 377 1000 quoted as a general number for Belfast processing centre on one of the Jobcentreplus leaflets. I think it's a call centre (or number of them) taking calls from anywhere in the country.

I want to call from my home phone; calls to 01 & 02 numbers are included in my bill but 08 aren't. If they were quick calls, I'd use the included minutes on my mobile, but it usually takes about 10 minutes' wait before speaking to someone. Drives me spare.

Are you sure that 0845 numbers are in your inclusive minutes? AFAIK, O2 was the last provider to disallow them earlier this year.
