IPhone Tv Ad Shows Dialling of 0871 Number!
Dec 25th, 2007 at 1:59am

Just a note to express my disbelief that a new tv advert in the extremely hype based UK campaign for the IPhone shows the user dialling an 0871 number to book cinema tickets.

Presumably the idea is that anyone who falls for the marketing con of the stylish but feature poor (compared to rival 3G PDA devices) IPhone is also stupid enough to fall for the con of calling 0871 phone numbers on their mobile phone?  Shocked Angry Cry

I noticed this too. Gave me a chuckle. Is it a real number? Anyone tried it?

Since March 2008, we UK iPhone users now get 600 minutes of inclusive minutes to geographic numbers and unlimited data usage to browse the web wherever we are in the basic tariff.

AFAIK it's the only non-PDA phone capable of displaying this web site?

So if I get a non-geographic number when I'm out and about I just zip over to this site (for free) and search for the geographic number just as I would on my desktop. The iPhone even turns the numbers into links automatically so I can just tap and call them (for 10 hours within my tariff).

Feature poor? Con?  Cheesy

You're right though, I recall spotting the 0871 number too and was mildly annoyed. Wink

I would hope so as it clearly demonstrates arrant contempt for the customer.

My Nokia N70 Has been able to happily display this site for the past 2 years. My N95 now displays it in full technicolour. Don't beleive the hype. Smiley
