Whenever I have booked service with expedia.com which contains a UK element to the travel, Expedia sends out what is known as a "International Toll Free Customer Support" message. Now, with my most recent Expedia experience (which may well be my last as all was not exactly hassle-free, but that's another matter) from October 2008, the toll-free number given for use in the UK was as follows:
For travel assistance while you are out of the country, we will provide you via email a direct dial phone number from the country you are visiting. This number will put you in touch with an Expedia representative for assistance 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Should you need to contact Expedia for travel assistance while you are out of the country, we would like to provide you with a direct dial, toll-free telephone number. The number to use while traveling in United Kingdom is 0800-032-3348. These calls will be answered in English only.
I have not called this number. Generally, when I have called the expedia.com 1-800 number, and its non toll-free 1-404 number in Atlanta, GA, all calls are routed offshore (ie outside the US). The customer service offered on these numbers is dire. Anyway, I have no idea if the UK 0800 number given above is for the handling of US customers only, or whether it will simply route to the same offshore call center. Perhaps someone can try it out.
