Thanks. I've combined threads on ATG. As you can see we, and particularly I, have been along this road.

Previously I mapped out a block of 020 7091 88xx numbers and matched them with their respective 0844 — each one being for a different venue or other purpose. Before that they were all 020 8544 74xx numbers and these too seem not be recognised. The exceptions I found are 020 8544 7457/69 which is answered as "ATG Tickets" and must be worth a shot — please report back as it might be a suitable for all ATG enquiries.

The ATG Tickets (Ambassador Theatre Group) geographic number listed, 020 7091 8857, is no longer valid. It gives the "number not recognised" message.

NDK thank you for letting us know,

I will find a way to get the database updated.

On a side note I have just sent the following e-mail to ATG:

"Dear ATG, the following link advises an 0844 contact number for your customer care line.  This is in direct contravention of the Consumer Contracts Regulations.  The number provided must be charged at a Geographic rate. These numbers start 01/02/03 - See section J here

Why does ATG insist on having an 0844 number instead of an 03 number for it's customer care line?  Does it seek to maximise any revenue it can make from it's patrons!

Additionally the Access Telephone booking line is an 0844 number and the Access typetalk booking line is an 0871 number, the most expensive number range excluding 09 premium rate.  It would suggest that ATG intends to make money out of those who have disabilities and cannot simply book via the website.

Why will ATG not introduce the 03 equivalent numbers for these lines?

I look forward to your reply."

e-mail edited to include easier links for forum usage

EDIT: Oddly the "thank you" page given after I had sent the e-mail (via their website) http://www.atgtickets.com/thankyou/ gives that number to contact them on from outside the UK.....

Coincidentally, I recently contacted ATG to complain about non-compliance with the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 (CCRs).  After enough pestering, I received a refund of my phone charge.

I was told their aftersales support can be reached at 020 8544 7469.  Note that Dave discovered this in March.  They also hide a reference to it on their Terms and Conditions page.

Of course, their Contact Us page is still in clear noncompliance with the CCRs.  It contains this gem:

Quote:
What will it cost me to call? We’re pleased to say that ATG doesn’t charge premium rates on any of our 0844 – numbers. All our phone lines charge at a national rate

The Good News is thanks to UKCalling they now publish the access charge...

ATG, as the service provider, has to declare their Service Charge.

The Access Charge is declared by the caller's landline or mobile provider.

Ah yes, good point. I'd flipped the terminology in my head.

I did mean to follow this up with the reply I got from ATG, so here it is:
"Thank you for contacting ATG Tickets

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

I appreciate you taking the time to write to us with your concerns, I will pass them onto the relevant department for their feedback purposes.

I can confirm that ATG has a central booking line whereby the Sales Agent can access all booking systems for over 38 Venues across the Country and, ATG does not charge a premium rate on any of our 084 – numbers.  Calls to this number cost 7p per minute, plus your phone company's access charge.

Kind Regards"

It didn't really answer my points at all, in fact it's a clear attempt to justify the use of 084 numbers.  Perhaps a stronger reply is needed.

ATG does use a premium rate number. ATG already declares the premium paid to the joint benefit of ATG and their telecoms provider is 7p per minute.

All numbers starting 070, 084, 087, 09 or 118 are premium rate. On all of these ranges (except 070) the premium is declared as the Service Charge.

Where the Service Charge is more than 7p per minute or per call, the service becomes a Controlled Premium Rate Service and subject to additional PhonepayPlus regulation.
