Apols if this has been covered elsewhere.
The other day I received a flyer from a company where a geographic number had been stuck over the original 0870 number printed on the sheet. It got me wondering about whether there are any success stories about persuading companies to drop non-geographic numbers and revert to geographic numbers?
Also, which companies are at least willing to freely give out geographic numbers if asked (I've always found, for example, that Travelodge will always give geographic numbers for local hotels, though this may have changed)?
I know topics here are often (rightly) about bad news of companies cutting off their geographic nos., but it would be good to know which companies we should be giving our custom to, and to hear encouragement that customer pressure CAN make a difference in getting companies to abandon non-geographic numbers - if onyl to use as a lever to tell other companies that their competitors are giving us what we want, so why shouldn't they?!!
Or am I a hopeless optimist?
