Aberdeen Football Club
Apr 3rd, 2008 at 10:42am

Hi there -

I racked up a huge bill recently in a queue getting tickets for a game. Need to do it again and would like to avoid the fee!

The published ticket office number is 087 1983 1903.

Club address is:

Aberdeen Football Club plc
Pittodrie Stadium
Pittodrie Street
Aberdeen
AB24 5QH

Any help much appreciated!

Assuming the ticket office is run by Aberdeen Football Club, the number is going to be in the range of 01224 6504xx - judging by the other numbers given there.

Do you have any previous number(s) for them? Do you know how long the 0871 number has been in use?

Website: www.afc.co.uk

Contact numbers for various departments are here. It looks like AFC's numbers are in the range 01224 6504xx, so, assuming that the ticket line is operated by the club at the ground then it will be one of those. You could ring switchboard and ask to be put through, although they may have been instructed to tell you to call the 0871 number.

Can you buy the tickets online?

Finally, as I always tell football supporters, I suggest you write to management at the club to express your disdain at the club profitting from supporters in this way. The page I linked to shows email addresses are of the form firstname{dot}lastname{at}afc{dot}co{dot}uk and lists names of management. Do you know who the chief executive is? Send it to him and some others. Copy in your local newspapers and radio stations as well.

The old geographical number has been switched off and you now get number not recognised.  Angry I think the 0871 number started this season.

Yep, using any other number you are given the 0871 number and tickets for the biggest games with the biggest demand (in this case, Scottish Cup Semi Final) aren't avialble online, only on the phoneline or in person, and I don't live in Aberdeen.

I might well take up your idea of complaining about it.

What was the old number, as it might help us find the new number?

Send copies (copy in) the sports reporters on local newspapers and radio stations - they may pick up on it. Post on here if you would like assistance finding names of contacts.

Calls to the 0871 number in question are 10p/min at all times from a BT landline and more from mobiles.

Clicking the "Buy Tickets Online" button on the AFC website brings up another page which says "(C) Ticketmaster Systems" at the bottom, so it's likely that Ticketmaster now has a hand in this. Perhaps the revenue from the 0871 doesn't go to the club, but straight to Ticketmaster. The point is that this is still being charged and that is by virtue of the selection of a 0871 number.

You can try numbers in our database for Ticketmaster, but don't hang your hat on it. Ticketmaster is well known for 0870/1 numbers and operates ticket numbers for other football clubs.
