Jun 2nd, 2008 at 9:55pm

Does anyone know a geographical number for e.on, formerly powergen, who give 0845 052 0000? Their address is e.on, Customer Service Centre, PO Box 7750, Nottingham, NG1 6WR. Thanks.

What is this number for specifically? There are many customer services numbers in the database under the name "Powergen" so please try those.

I've been through the database and renamed all entries for
Powergen
to
E.ON Energy Services (Powergen)
.

If you do a search for
E.ON
it will return all verified and unverified entries.

I have removed a few duplicates, although some remain. There were several for 0845 0520000 giving 01268 652100.

The verified entries are mainly freephone numbers. Do these still work and if they do, which 0845 numbers are they suitable alternatives for? Which ones don't work and why don't they work? Your assistance is much appreciated as if no-one reports them as not working they will not be removed.

Re-submitting unverified entries is pointless. The best way to notify us of working/non-working numbers is to post on the forum.

0800 052 0346 worked. Thank you very much. (I had read the instructions and did search - for e.on. It never occurred to me to search under Powergen! Sorry. Thanks for reindexing it!)

Thanks. I have added 0845 0520000 to the verified entry with this 0800 and 01268 652100.

There are quite a few entries which look like they are for the same thing, eg customer services. I am wondering if some can be consolidated to a single entry.

I've been through the numbers we have for E.ON. The numbers in the following list are in groups of those which answer the same. That doesn't mean that those in different lists aren't suitable alternatives for others. For example, the menu on 0845 0520000 is also available on 0800 363363, but ringing one of the other numbers which goes straight through to an operator will probably be a suitable alternative as well.

I came across an "error" page which is normally displayed when a invalid page is requested. It still lists freephone numbers for what are now 0845s on the contact page.

• General menu: as per 0845 0520000, 0845 0599905 & 0845 3004390

Options:
1) Moving home
2) Pre-pay meter
3) Pay bill
4) Provide meter reading
Hold for all other enquiries

Alternatives:
01204 812412
01268 652032
0800 0152029
0800 0520346
0800 0563856
0800 0566726
0800 1831515
0800 1950101
0800 1955556
0800 363363
0800 4045065

Note that we have a couple of geographical alternatives for this menu now.
• Prepayment electricity menu: 0845 3033040

Options:
1) Moving home
2) Electricity enquiries
3) Gas enquiries
Hold for all other enquiries

Alternative:
0800 0520347 No menu on this number but used to be the prepayment electricity number
• Prepayment gas menu: 0845 3008144

Options:
1) Moving home
2) Gas enquiries
3) Electricity enquiries
Hold for all other enquiries

Alternative:
0800 4792211
• Moving home menu: as per 0845 3033020 and option 1 on general menu

Options:
1) Pre-pay meter
2) Moving into or out of rented property
3) Moving into or out of property that you own
Hold for all other enquiries

Alternatives:
0800 0151670
0800 0152662
• Meter reading menu: 0800 7834422

Options:
1) Leave meter reading following estimated bill
2) Pay bill
Hold for all other enquiries
• Straight through to operator: as per 0845 3014905, 0845 3015330 & 0845 3033010

Alternatives:
0115 9697273
0115 9955100
0116 2495846
01268 652100
0800 0152922
0800 0152928
0800 0152931
0800 0152935
0800 0512190
0800 0520351
0800 0563747
0800 0566282
0800 1831377
0800 1831771
0800 1952651
0800 4790225
• Into a queue, "Thanks for calling E.ON. Someone will be with you as soon as they can.": 0845 3008143, 0845 3014932 & 0845 3015914

Alternatives:
0800 0155893

Their email addresses appear to be in the standard firstname.surname@eon-uk.com format so, if you have those details .....

Most of their phone numbers appear to start 024 7618 but I've only been able to find direct line numbers for some of their PR people online.  One of them may transfer your call though!

thanks for that, im sure they'll add it soon..

how are you getting on with e.on? they seem like a very alternative company, but unfortunately have no compassion for poverty stricken people.

Many thanks for this. I called this number and the recording says that E.ON called from this number. I've added an entry to this effect pointing to the main alternatives, 01268 652100 and 0800 363363.

The reason their numbers have this code is that they are based in Coventry near Warwick uni. I live there, so will ask in person for their geogrpahical number.

Just to update.  My son has just moved into his first home and is reliant on mobiles, he rang me for the number for EON as he only had an 0845 (no internet connection yet).  He tried the 01268 652100 number as per the database but reported back to me that this number now redirects to the 0845 303 3020 number so please could the database be updated accordingly.  I gave him an 0115 843 4147 number and the 01204 812412 number from the previous post, he is trying these, I will report back when I hear from him as to which, if any, work.  It really is a disgrace that energy companies are allowed to make yet further profit out of their customers in addition to the rip off prices of their bills.

He could get a http://giffgaff.com/ SIM and try the 0800 numbers for nothing.

Thanks, Heinz, I'll pass that on to him but he is currently tied into an 18 month contract with Orange, that was the only provider giving coverage where we live but that could be different now he's moved; his girlfriend has a SIM only contract & was going to suggest the same to him anyway as they're apparently much cheaper.  I haven't heard back from him yet but did suggest that I could ring the 0800 number from home & get them to ring him.
