Letter received this morning from NatWest re my card, if I want to renew dial 0870 333199993 to request a new card.  Call to Chief Executive's Office of the Royal Bank of Scotland to complain that I am paying through a premium number to renew my card.  Advised that there was an increasing number of complaints about the use of non-geographic numbers and the executive were concidering the way forward but could not say what the review would decide or when it would take effect.  So it would appear the executive board are aware of concerns-but we have to wait and see in this economic climate if they will give up their share of phone call revenue.
