Personal Computer World Magazine
Oct 27th, 2008 at 7:49pm

Hi. Does anyone know if there is an alternative number to this one for Personal Computer World
0845 357 3609..... ?
Phoning this number & quoting Computer Active magazine will get you a free sample of the said magazine

Many thanks.    Nosivad     Grin

Is this for subscriptions?

PCW contact page gives a geographical number: 01858 438870

No, the reason I asked for an alternative number is because the latest issue of Computer Active magazine came with a flyer offering a free edition of Computer World Magazine if one phones the number given. However, the monthly telephone tariff I am on which allows me unlimited free calls up to one hour long does not include 0845 numbers, rather they make a charge so to avoid paying I am keen to find out if an alternative number is available.
Regards

This won't be a phone number for PCW, but rather for the publishers or the company promoting this particular offer. Are there any details or small print saying who the offer is from?

Seeing as it's an otherwise free magazine, you could argue that paying a few pence for it is still good value.

As an aside, I did once see such an offer for a different magazine with an 0844 number, and a claim it was "local rate". After being passed between a few different people, I eventually received an apology from the publishers for adversing a misleading price for the call, and a free quarterly subscription for my trouble.

Find agreement with your sentiments regarding the mag being a freeby but for the price of a phone call but I would rather search for a number that results in no charge in light of my phone package tariff. as for who is making the promotion of this one off freeby, the flier has no obvious sponsor other than the Computer Active mag with which it came and is said to be their "Sister Magazine" so seeing the readers forum in both magazines is one and the same I suppose there must be a common publisher for both mags. Like the "Computer Shopper" mag, this one also seems to come with a free CD full of freebies so it must be worth a phone call I suppose. Regards

Well, I personally would have thought of contacting the Original magazines' supplier about an offer, but hey, that's my logic !  I called the Computer Active subscriptions helpdesk on 01858 438883 & they advised that the offer is from PCW and to call them on 0845 357 3609 quoting
CA
.

They advised that although they are from the same publisher, this is the only number for getting the offer and also the 3 issues for £1.

Many thanks Dave, I appreciate the time you have taken to explore this issue and realise that to avail ones self of this offer the number stated is the only source whereby it can be acquired, many thanks Dave.
