CPP Geographical Number Incorrect
Feb 5th, 2009 at 3:12pm

The geographic number on your site of 01904544500 for Card Protection Plan Ltd (CPP),  Holgate Park,  York,  YO26 4GA is now incorrect,  but connects you to another company whose name I did not catch.  The number CPP gave for me to call was their Questions & Registration line,  08448484276 and I wanted to say that after reporting the loss of my wallet, all cards had been replaced except for my Marks and Spencer card.

Has anybody found an alternative number,  please?

Many thanks.

Regards

01904 544500 is CPP's switchboard number, it is shown on CPP Group's contact page.

CPP's numbers are 01904 544500 through to 999 (I assume that they go this high up). Search the database for
cpp
and there are some numbers directly for customer services for different branded products, ie "Barclaycard Card Protection", "CardGuard" etc. I think that they'll deal with all enquiries, even if you call a different one.

It looks as though they've gone from 0870 to 0844. Our database lists 0870 numbers, so perhaps you can advise as to which brand this 0844 relates to and most importantly, which entry it should be amended to.

There are other threads on CPP running:

Please provide feedback so we can amend the database which will help others with the same query.

I think I am posting this in the correct place.  I can confirm that 01904 544617 is a confirmed alternative to 0844 848 5282 as we have just used it (didn't put 141 in front and there were no problems).  You may want to move this from the unverified to verified database.  Thanks.

Thanks Barbara, IIRC, this 01904 number was used by HSBC GuardGuard before the 0870 number. It looks like CPP (the provider of HSBC CardGuard and other branded services) has gone from 0870 to 0844.  Lips Sealed

Thanks Dave and yes, they have, yet another lot for the Hall of Shame!   My husband found the 0870 number from last year but the latest policy doc has the 0844 number; as he was on the phone for over 8 minutes, that would have been quite a cost!   They are also not the most efficient bunch as, a few years ago, they "accidentally deleted" part of our address with the result that a neighbour with the same surname received a full list of all our cards etc through the post - fortunately he was honest but this emphasises the point about the cost of phoning an organisation to get them to rectify their mistakes, that one took numerous calls before they got it right and why should the customer bear the cost?   (Sorry for rant, partly in response to certain other posts!)

I've added CPP to the Hall of ShameWink

I too have an account with CPP and I wrote to them about five years ago and got the usual baloney about needing non-geographical numbers because of their "routing possibilities", without any reference as to why these had to be 0870, rather than 0845, which at the time were the least worst option. Other justification was that they were used widely in the industry.

CPP's senior management are listed here. E-mail addresses are firstname.lastname@cpp.co.uk
