You can use a call-through number - 020 0222 0700 / 020 0222 0900 / 01229 33 0800 (
www.0800buster.co.uk)
As per jgxenite's post, you can call the 0800 number for the same price as a geographical call using one of these dial through numbers. This is useful in general for calling freephone (0500/0800/0808) from your mobile, where you don't have access to a landline.
You can store the full number your phone by using the pause function: eg 02002220700p08007311173
I use the 'p' to represent pause. This will vary depending on your handset manufacturer.
Alternatively, we have a direct alternative for the main breakdown number 0800 828282 which is 01922 436000. There is a thread on this number
here.
What is special about this 0800 731 1173 number? Obviously both breakdown numbers operate 24/7, but how is it different? Maybe they will deal with your call on the above 01922 number.
In any case, I suggest that you carry the 0800 number with you just in case there is a problem using these unpublished and unofficial numbers. You don't want to find that in an emergency that they've taken them out of service.
