0871 Numbers on Cable Network
Jun 4th, 2009 at 11:10am

Were trying to call Nigeria and your site allocated 0871 772 85 85 for mobile based numbers.
We however have a difficulty with 0871 numbers as Virgin treats and charges them like premium numbers thereby almost wiping out the savings were trying to achieve.
Previously, you used to avoid this problem by allocating 0844 numbers alongside the 0871 numbers. Is there any plan to continue this practise as otherwise cable phone customers like us will derive very little benefit from your service?
Its not just your Nigeria calling customers that will lose out if you do not continue to use 0844 numbers but any of your cable based customers whose access code starts with 087* as Virgin along with most cable operators treats these numbers the same way - premium charging excluding premium servicing.
Can you help us out here?
Many Thanks for your time and support.

Where have you got this number from on this site?

They are premium numbers. I understand that most landline providers charge as BT does. However, Virgin Media has recently increased their cost by 2 pence per minute.

Please explain where you have these numbers from. Where was the 0844 number shown?

Plenty of gateway providers offering 0844 numbers to call Nigeria on Martin Lewis's site.

After years of ignoring govt. guidelines & RIPPING OFF Council Tax payers using 0845 numbers, Essex County Council changed to 0345 numbers on 2 November 2015
