This is perhaps a significant clue.
The contact address given on the page linked to by derrick is:
Customer Services Manager,
Humax Customer Services,
PO Box 1056,
St Albans, Herts,
AL1 9QL
OK, so it's a PO Box, but does suggest that we're looking for something in St Albans. It's also worth noting that the number published by Humax itself for the public to call and that given by Humax Direct both start 0844 669. This leads me to think that these may be answered at the same place (and by the same company).
Googling the post code of the PO Box yields nothing I can see which gives any clue other than to confirm it's for Humax. However, a look-up of the registration information for the internet address
humaxdirect.co.uk (known as
Whois humaxdirect.co.uk) returns:
Quote:Domain name:
humaxdirect.co.uk
Registrant:
CWNETWORKS
Registrant type:
UK Limited Company, (Company number: 4652050)
Registrant's address:
D9D
8 Park Industrial Estate Frogmore
St. Albans
AL2 2DR
United Kingdom
…
Could D9D be the name of the mystery company we have been looking for?
Its website is
www.d9d.co.uk.
This thread on Digital Spy makes reference to the fact that D9D run Humax Direct.
The
contact page for D9D gives:
Unit 7 Park Industrial Estate
Park Street
St Albans
Herts
AL2 2DR
Phone: 0845 434 6099
Email: info@d9d.co.uk
This says unit 7 and the Whois says unit 8, but the rest of the address is the same.
The
case study page mentions the following operations:
- CW Digital www.cwdigital.co.uk Tel: 0844 544 7131 Address is Unit 8 Park Industrial Estate.
- Nextd.co.uk www.nextd.co.uk Tel: 0844 544 7655 Address is Unit 7 Park Industrial Estate.
- Digital Stream www.digitalstreamdirect.co.uk Tel: 0845 434 6099 (same as D9D's number) Unable to access website (says "Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)")
Looking for the above (both by name and 08 number) in the database I found this entry:
CW Digital 0870 067 9040 0844 544 7131 0800 0192131
It was previously unverified and I've checked it and all three of these numbers are answered with the same IVR (menu). Options are 1. Place order or have any queries on product range before you buy 2. All other enquiries.
Maybe the 0800 019 2131 number is suitable for Humax enquiries. Perhaps someone can try it and report back.
As for a geographic alternative; we are looking for a 01727 number or numbers for this company. When we crack one, we may get to the alternative(s) for all.
