01013 on caller display and from 1471 service
Jun 27th, 2009 at 10:11am

On my return home yesterday my caller display showed a missed call that afternoon to be  01013 and as it was my last call, I checked via 1471 to confirm it was not an error and that too "read out" 01013.

I've tried www and searched on here but no result that I could find.

Apologies if I've missed it, but does anyone know anything about this number? I haven't rung it.

Thanks in anticipation

Bill

It sounds to me like another spoofed caller ID. See the recent thread False caller ID.

Ah, such a shame that Oftel did not insist that all "non-electric" or "non-real" CLI did not carry a marker. So that if I chose to show my office's CLI when working from elsewhere it would have showed a marker - as would any similar example.
It was deemed to be too confusing for users. Whereas today's shambles is [answers on a postcard].

Take the extraneous zero out of 01
0
13
to make 0113 and call the revised number back and see if they called you.

Check who their provider is.   Maybe there's a clue here: http://www.saynoto0870.com/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.cgi?num=1241350297/15

Thanks catj but the number is only 5 digits, no more to reveal unfortunately.

And....another number today at 12:18, verified by calling 1471:

0000000000000

No significance to having 13 digits Shocked

As in my previous post (#4) it is such a shame that anyone can put in any CLI that they like with no option for the poor receiving party (callee?) to have any reliance on its probity. Grrrr.

When I dial 1471 I get the message...

'We do not have the callers number'

and also

'The caller withheld their number'

There must be some difference in the meaning but does anyone know what it is?

Thanks  Smiley

CLI can be "Unavailable" or "Withheld". I presume that the former message is when it was unavailable and the latter is when it was withheld.

Information on those categories is available from Ofcom:

http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/archive/oftel/ind_groups/cli_group/docs/guideline...

Quote:
9. Privacy and privacy markings

9.1 Privacy is the complex of rights over CLI information conferred on end users by data protection legislation which leads to the generation of a privacy marking.

9.2 In order that communications providers are able to respect an end user’s wishes, it is important that a privacy marking is associated with a call. For ease of reference, the four privacy markings adopted to satisfy data protection requirements by the most recent version of the ETSI/ISUP signalling system (EN 300 356 V4) are:

9.2.1 Available
where the caller has been given the possibility of preventing the display of CLI information and has chosen not to do so

9.2.2 Withheld
where the caller has been given the possibility of preventing the display of CLI information and has chosen to exercise this option

9.2.3 Unavailable
where, at any point in the end-to-end conveyance of a communication, it is not possible to offer an end user privacy choices and respect them

9.2.4 Network restricted
the display of the caller’s CLI information is prevented by communications providers in order to preserve the anonymity of law enforcement and other government agencies (NB – although specified by ETSI, this classification is not used within the UK)

9.3 Where a privacy marking is not explicitly associated with a call, CLI data shall not be passed unless the caller's privacy wishes have been unambiguously established.

I think that Skype uses a caller ID of 0000000000000 if a call is made from a 'Skype out' account. Since this doesn't have the ability to receive calls, there is no "number" as such?
