Inksmart geo number
Oct 22nd, 2009 at 8:49am

On the Inksmart website the number is 0844 8044189, I emailed them for their geo number, and whilst they gave it, they also gave the "local rate" blurb!

Reply and number: -

"The phone number advertised on our website charges only at local rates for your area, i have supplied our local number below but please be aware that if you are outside our local area it will be more expensive then dialing the number provided on our website-

(01325) 383344

Regards

Liam"

I have emailed them back pointing out they are wrong, if I receive a reply, I will post back.

I've added an entry to the database for this company.

Companies continue to spout this rubbish about 0844 g6 numbers (the highest rate there is) being cheaper than a local call. On what planet are they living on?

So they think telephone call retailers (the telephone companies we make our call with) to charge less for the 0844 number than a local call even though it costs them around 10 times more?!  Shocked

Yet you never see such companies engaging in this bizarre practice themselves!! Why don't they sell the laser toners for the same price as their 1GB memory sticks (£9.99 inc VAT)?  Huh

That's way too much in itself ..!  A tenner for a gig? Eeks. 2Gb for a fiver ...  Wink

I think a lot of these people using 0844 numbers get sold them on the basis that they'll be getting money for nothing - "It'll cost your customers no more than a local call, and you get some of the cash".  Having believed it, they then repeat it ..

Received the following from Tom Coley, General Manager. (copied as received, including the incorrect spelling of the word "attention"): -

"Please accept my sincerest apologies, the information supplied to us by our service provider was that this was a Local Rate number. I can assure you that we receive no revenue from this number and I will be looking into this as a matter of urgency.

Thank you for bringing this information to our attantion and expect to be seeing this number changed in the very near future.

Once again I do apologise for any confusion caused.

Regards

Tom coley
General Manager"
