Big story...the banking crisis...HBOS in trouble, bought by Lloyds TSB. Now HBOS (formed from the merger of Halifax and Bank of Scotland) is part of the Lloyds Banking Group.
When a merger like this happens, it's likely that there's duplication. For example, each would have had a recruitment department, so they may decide to just have one recruitment department. Same goes for customer services and so on.
