Please excuse me being a little off topic with this post but I have just found the contact details for the office of the chief executive of the jobcentre and would like to share it so other can write to him. (He is one of the civil service fat cats listed in a recent Panorama programme about those who are paid a lot more than the PM).

Darra Singh.. Chief executive of jobcentreplus.. Level 6.. Caxton House.. Tothill St.. London.. SW1H 9NA..

Email: darra.singh@jobcentreplus.gsi.gov.uk

Please everyone, do all you can to spread this info across other threads and websites as the jc seem to go to great lengths to keep the identitiy of this person and the address of his ivory tower from the rest of us!

If I ever find a phone number I will list it here too!

Thanks for that. I have added an entry to the database under Jobcentre Plus (0845 604 3719) advising of the Chief Executive's name and postal and e-mail addresses.

Take a look at this Word file:
http://www.rightsnet.org.uk/pdfs/jobcentre_plus_south_east_complaint_contact_lis...

It gives the telephone number of the then Chief Executive, Lesley Strathie, as 020 7273 6006. Try it and let us know how you get on.

Welcome to the forum.

I have found this......

Job Centre: Wrexham
Address:
Ty Maelor 15-17 Grosvenor Road,
Wrexham,
LL11 1BW

Telephone: 01978 316500

Job Centre Number: 0845 6060 234

I found it on this site....

Please report back here on how you get on and if the number is good, then Dave will put it on the database.

Thanks

Starting points for jobcentre numbers

There is plenty of advice here, and on other threads, about how to contact a jobcentre by changing the last digit(s) of the original number, (which often ended 00). However, to be able to do that you need the original number of course, which is not always available.

However, if you go to the BT website,

http://www.bt.com

In the lower right corner you will see a box headed 'Find a number', click on the tab that says 'business name', then enter jobcentre (NOT jobcentreplus), and the location and click 'search'. In most, if not all cases you will then have the 'starting point' number for each jobcentre. I have tried this with several, including Wrexham, and can confirm it works (at least it does at the time of writing!).

With luck this may save people some time and reduce the need of people to ask for starting point numbers.

Please feel free to disseminate this information in whatever way you think best as it is time to hit back against these rip-off numbers.

Hi there, thanks for the number but it didn't work. Tried all numbers from 1 to 9 but unfortunately each time a woman's voice said 'Sorry, this number is no longer available' and gave the new 0845 number. Keep up the good work though, loving this site!

Why did you give up so soon?  Huh

I would have thought that most Jobcentre offices will have many members of staff and therefore many direct dialling in numbers; certainly more than 9. So I would continue on, either trying one at a time, or jump to higher numbers, e.g. 40 something etc.

Leytonstone Jobcentre 020 8988 5305 recorded message gives the 0845 number.

5301 unavailable
5302/3/4 engaged
5305 answered and was reasonably helpful and NO issue or mention of calling the 0845 number.

Excellent suggestion for changing last few digits of the original geographical number to the jobcentre in question.

My additional suggestion would be to use different number endings each time you call so as not to bombard the same person directly and make the service realise we have found a way to swerve the 0845 number,

Thanks again for the suggestion of using different direct numbers.

Yes this worked for me  Grin with the Alfreton  Job Centre Plus their old number was 01773724700 so i just rang same number but swapped last 0 to a 1 and got through to an adviser , so any number around that number might work  Wink

just tried this number again but had to use a 2 at the end to get through so it still works

Thanks for the feedback. I've added a note to the Alfreton entry that 02 might work, or try swapping last couple of digits.

I have tried up to 110 at the end, still saying the same thing. I will keep trying.

I'm not sure what you're trying, but I've just called 01978 316510 and 01978 316520 and got through to staff members and not the recording redirecting to the 0845 number. You need to dial 01978 3165 plus two other digits, and perhaps 3166 plus two digits will be for Jobcentre in Wrexham.

Thanks for that. I was using the whole old number plus 01,02 etc instead of what you did. Whoops!

Hello and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM.

I have put this in the verified listings. There was also another recently submitted entry for Congleton Jobcentre giving 205306, which I have also included, along with a note to say it is worth changing the last digit or two.

Today I had to phone the Ilford BDC Jobcentre Plus office as my incapacity benefit has been removed without any notice! Obviously the b*****ds have an 0845 number & I point blank refuse to phone them (or anyone else who uses them), so I trailed through these forums trying to find an alternative number that won't cost me to call. I ended up phoning Wandsworth & she was very understanding but told me that her hands have now been tied, she was no longer able to put me through to another branch... but what she did offer to do was contact them herself, then pass my number on to them (bless her), which she did.

Sadly my awful predicament is still far from solved right now  Cry
