You could try 01494 450691 as on http://www.ibuckinghamshire.co.uk/profile/100207/High-Wycombe/Chiltern-House-Med... but it might well direct you to the 0844 no.

Thank you!
What if it redirects me to 0844, does it mean I'll be charged as for the call to 0844 or 01494 and how can I find out?  Sad

If it redirects you automatically you will only be charged for the number you dialled, but it's academic because, as you pointed out, the number is now in use by a different company.

If you Google the actual phone number the vast majority of hits are still for Chiltern House Medical Centre, so Natuzzi need to put themselves about a bit on the web!

Firstly, if you call any number and are subsequently redirected somewhere else, you will always be charged as per the number you dialled. We have covered this a number of times before; it is not possible for the call rate to change because it is your telephone provider that bills you and the redirecting has nothing to do with it; it has connected the call to where you dialled and that's that.

What's more, any 01/02 alternative for your doctor does not direct to its 0844 number. It's the other way around; the 0844 number directs to the currently unknown 01/02 number.

Refer to my previous posting for tips on finding alternatives to these surgery numbers. Clues may be found on the internet or at the surgery.

From the Practice's website: http://www.chilternhousemedicalcentre.co.uk/contact1.aspx?p=K82020

It has two surgeries:

Chiltern House MC
45 / 47 Temple End
High Wycombe
HP13 5DN

Telephone: 0844 477 1848
Fax: 0844 477 1849

Dragon Cottage Surgery
35 Browns Rd
Holmer Green
High Wycombe
HP15 6SL

Telephone: 0844 477 1846
Fax: 0844 477 1846

All those numbers you've listed are 0844 numbers...
But thanks for the clues, I will try to search more. The matter of fact is I was googling the name of my GP and nurses names, they all come out with results of 0844 number.

Well spotted; it helps to post information found. The starting point is usually the address and 08 number(s). These numbers will be needed should we find an alternative; so that it can be listed in the database.

A number of these systems have been cracked by finding a direct number for a member of staff. Job vacancies are often a source of direct numbers which help us home in alternative numbers. A Google of the practice manager's name and the area code can sometimes yield results, as it has done in this case.

The website gives the practice manager's name as Mike Hickey. Google "Mike Hickey" 01494 provides a link to a job site:
http://jobs.posot.co.uk/jobs/job-gp-receptionist/

Quote:
MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST, Required for a friendly gp practice in Holmer Green for between 8 and 16 hours per week, team player with good phone manner. Email mike.hickey@nhs.net or call 01494 430049 for details.

A call to 01494 430040 reveals that it is the geographic number for Chiltern House Medical Centre.  Wink

This is the alternative to 0844 477 1848 and I have listed it in the database for site visitors to use.  Smiley

The geographic number for Dragon Cottage Surgery is still unknown. 01494 430050 is not recognised, so it would appear that the practice's numbers don't extend upwards. It is not in the ranges 01494 43004x or 43003x either.

And this thread is the only hit on Google for that phone number, so this is pioneering stuff! Is it reasonable to assume that all of these 0844 477 numbers used by surgeries have an ordinary geographic number behind them? I have one locally (not my own but it would help a friend) that I would like to find but Dave's technique has not yielded any results. I think it is appalling that surgeries won't just give out the number to anyone who asks - I am in an area where a relatively large percentage of people do not have a landline.

KASG, to give to you a quick run down of how they work: You call 08457 48 49 50 (national rail enquiries) it re directs to another number (which I don't know so will make one up) 01234 567 890, that connects you to the call centre for the company..

All the Surgeries have done is allowed a company to provide them with a chargeable number for users to call (ie US) mostly provided by NEG... there are LOADS of posts about them on here!

I hope this helps.
