alliance and leicester customer services
Jul 12th, 2010 at 7:36pm

the alternative number for alliance and leciester customer services has been given as 01332 340 371. this is actually a branch in derby city centre who unfortuantley are unable to help with telephone enquires. They are getting a very high number of calls and are then subject to alot of abuse as they are not able to help (it is not the fact they don't want to be they actually do not have the information that the majority of the people want)

numerous requests have been sent to remove this number without success. The staff are being given alot of verbal abuse and are being put under alot of pressure trying to deal with these calls as well as their normal workloads.

Hi and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention; sorry for the nuisance, this is not why I help out on here. It is sadly the case that those who looked on this site and rang up never bothered to post about their experience on the forum.

The reason that this number came up was because it had been listed as verified and was the only verified geographic number for the main banking number, 0844 800 9000. Now it is labelled as a being for a particular branch with a different 0845 number, it should not stand out as it did. I have and labelled it up as being for the Derby branch in St Peter's Street as this is the address that comes up on the Branch Locator on the A&L website. Is this correct?

Fortunately, the freephone number in that entry, 0800 056 6066, answers with the same IVR (menu) as the 0844 number, so it would appear to be an identical alternative.

This raises some important points:

1. For users of the SAYNOTO0870.COM website
Why is it that they would much rather cause a nuisance to those on numbers listed here who are only doing their job, than bother to provide feedback to us? I believe that this website is here to allow people to share not only alternative numbers that they find, but feedback on their effectiveness.

Yet there are quite a few who come here, get a number and don't put anything back. There are plenty of threads in the Requests section in which myself and others have put in time to help those asking for help, but they've not bothered to come back. People all too frequently seem to mistake this as being a "free" service as they don't put anything back.  Cry

As there are many who do not use it in the way it was intended, I ask what can we do to get site users to provide feedback?

2. For Alliance & Leicester
The fact that A&L customers are attempting to circumvent its covert premium numbers in the first place surely tells it that they do not like its methods. The cost to it of staff dealing with these calls must surely be a waste of their time, and thus a waste of money for the company. I hope that staff at this branch have raised this matter with management.

So, why doesn't it become more customer friendly and abandon its 084x numbers in favour of 03 ones?
