I have found some more links that may be of interest: - TravelMole - Accounting issues blamed for Leisure Direction failure [08 February, 2008]
Quote:
Based in Tottenham Hale, London, Leisure Direction was set up 21 years ago and, on average, took bookings from around 35,000 customers each year.
The company, run by Alan Potts, employed 50 staff and its most recent annual turnover was £15 million.
The company was a registered ATOL holder and registered ABTA licence holder, trading under a number of names, including French Impressions, French Holiday Service, EuroDrive, Alliance Travel, The Travel Alliance, and Faresavers.
[…]
Leisure Direction also used to trade under a series of 'Best of' names, but these were purchased by Best of Travel Ltd in April 2007.
Best of Travel managing director Eli Idrissi said although the two companies operate from the same building, his companies were trading as normal.
These include Best of France, Best of Greece, Best of Cyprus, Best of Portugal, Best of Turkey, Best of Spain, Best of Italy, and Best of Cruising.
"We used to work together 20 years ago, but we bought the specialist division from them as it was a separate busines," he said. So "Best of" was split off in 2007, which is why the 020 numbers still work for it. - Holidaymakers warned of new travel company [14 Feb 2008]
Quote:
Holidaymakers are being warned that a new company which has emerged following the collapse of tour operator Leisure Direction has no connection with this former member of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).
Leisure Direction, a specialist tour operator to Europe, had been operating for 20 years, but went into administration a week ago, following accounting problems.
Several companies, including ski operator Erna Low, took over the existing bookings. The administrators, however, sold the Leisure Direction website to a firm called Entee which has created the similarly-named Leisure Direction Travel Limited, a company which is not an ABTA member. Entee's website is www.entee.co.uk and its address is also 2morrow Court. The company is part of 2morrow Group.

Is it harder to find alternative numbers to 0844 numbers? It would appear that 2morrow Group has numbers from 01235 845100 to 845699. 845700 belongs to another company and I assume that all numbers inbetween belong to 2morrow. Those numbers added to our listings have been submitted by visitors. Perhaps they are staff members' direct numbers, staff who have left...it's all ifs buts and maybes really. If calls are dealt with at that address, then maybe the 0844 numbers (there are various 0844 numbers for different parts of the business) go to one or more of those 845xxx numbers....
From 2morrow Group About Us page: Quote:The first of the group companies, Entee, was founded by Chris Howe-Davies in 1997. Then in 2008, Chris's eldest son James Howe-Davies took over as Group CEO. This family owned and run company also includes younger son Michael Howe-Davies (CEO of The Travel Gateway). The Group is operated on family values with global ambitions, and now employs over two hundred people across seven countries. 845699 allows access to the directory of extensions and direct dial in numbers are 01235 84 + four-digit extension. So if you know the name of the person you want to speak to.... Chris Howe-Davies is x5103, James is x5109 and Michael is on x5602. Try 5682 during the daytime; at present it is answered with a recording which identifies it as being "Leisure Direction Travel". Please report back on what you find so as to help me to list a suitable alternative.
