We haven't got very far with this one.
The first and most obvious thing is that the incorrect number or numbers need removing from the listings. Thus, IAVOID0870's posting referring to the database will then be meaningless and we will no longer know what those mystery number(s) are. He has continued to elude to it and has instead left those providing their time to help, to go along the same road and fill in the gaps before doing any detective work that may uncover the alternative.
A search of the afforementioned string
Vauxhall Motors
returns three verified entries at present:
General Motors 0845 090 2051 0191 335 6583 Executive Support Team Also for Vauxhall Motors Ltd, Saab Great Britain Ltd, Chevrolet UK Ltd
Vauxhall Motors Ltd 0845 600 1500 01582 721122 Luton switchboard p/o General Motors
Vauxhall Motors Ltd 0845 090 2044 01582 427200 Customer care Luton Switchboard: 01582 721122 p/o General Motors
The number 01582 427200 was the main Vauxhall customer services number up until a few years ago when GM introduced a number of 0845 090 20xx numbers. It is now answered with a recording which redirects to the 0845 090 2044 number. The Luton switchboard will not put calls through to customer services.
That leaves the GM Executive Support Team. Reading IAVOID0870's postings, I gather he has tried that and they will not deal with his call.
A wider search, this time for
General Motors
, returns several other entries
Chevrolet UK Ltd 0800 060606 Customer care p/o General Motors
General Motors 0845 090 2046 0191 335 6043 Fleet Aftersales Also: 0191 3356253 Also for: 0845 0902047 & 0845 0902048
General Motors 0845 090 2028 0191 335 6157 Technical literature ordering line
We now see three GM numbers that are 0191 335 6xxx. These go to an office for HP Enterprise Services (formally known as EDS), although knowing the name isn't really necessary for finding the alternative. I presume that GM has outsourced these, which would explain why the Luton switchboard will not put callers through and why the old 01582 customer services number no longer puts callers through to customer services either.
There are some numbers that take more tracking down than others. Some may take hours or many hours to find. This website would list many more of these hard to find numbers if more people put a lot of effort into finding a few numbers, and then share them using the site.
In this instance I have done the work. In the future I will be happy to give my opinion on where I think the clues lead, although I obviously cannot give any guarantees that an alternative number may be found by following that advice. The only way to do that is to find the number!
Alternatives are as follows:
- Alamo information helpline: 0845 090 2027 = 0191 335 6234 | Requests dealer code - possibly for dealer use only
- GM technical literature ordering line: 0845 090 2028 = 0191 335 6157
- GM dealer assistance centre: 0845 090 2029-2032 / 2039 = 0191 335 6844 | For dealer use only; requests dealer code
- Network Q: 0845 090 2042 / 2052 = 0191 335 6843
- GM customer assistance centre: 0845 090 2044 = 0191 335 6828 | Answers as "GM customer assistance centre", although it's published only for Vauxhall.
- Vauxhall internet purchase helpline: 0845 090 2045 = 0191 335 6842
- Fleet aftersales department: 0845 090 2046 = 0191 335 6838 | Straight to next consultant; requests dealer code - possibly for dealer use only
- Fleet aftersales department: 0845 090 2047 = 0191 335 6839 | IVR: 1. Speak to named consultant 2. To next consultant; requests dealer code - possibly for dealer use only
- GM technical assistance centre: 0845 090 2049 = 0191 335 6860 | IVR: 1. Vauxhall 2. Saab
- GM Executive support team: 0845 090 2051 = 0191 335 6583
I have not located alternatives for Saab (0845 300 9395 / 9593) or Chevrolet (0800 060606). The numbers 0845 090 2033-2037 / 2048 answer as Saab Great Britain, but the recording redirects to 0845 300 9593, so I suspect that these may be answered elsewhere.
