0300 numbesr on virgin media
Sep 6th, 2010 at 10:49am

Hi,

I have used this website successfully on numerous occassions so thanks to everyone for posting the alternative numbers.

I was under the impression that 0300 numbers were free for virgin media customers ( I have the package that give free calls to any geopgraphical numbers).  I have just checked their tarriffs on the website to find that calls to 0300 numbers have a connection fee of 11p and an 8.5p per minute cost.  Why are companies changing form 0844/5 numbers to 0300 numbers if the calls are just as expensive?

Can anyone help with clarifycation?

0300 numbers are only "free" (at no extra cost) where geographic (01/02) calls are as well. They are chargeable at the same rates as geographic calls where there is no inclusive element.

Thanks, Dave.

So they should be free for me then.

When I have a spare hour, Iwill call Virgin Media to confirm this.

You can be confident that all 03 calls will be charged (or inclusive) as if they were to a 01/02 number, by Virgin Media and indeed all other providers.

There were a few glitches with some providers initially, but so far as we know they have all been ironed out. THERE ARE NO KNOWN EXCEPTIONS.

Thanks, SilentCalls

I was only suspicious because the 0300 numbers are listed on Virgin's non geographical tarriff as chargeable.

I will assume I am not being charged and put my spare hour to better use!

That's because they are chargeable (exactly the same as 01 and 02 calls are chargeable).
