In order to find the geographical number, it is often necessary to find other information. It's playing detective and we don't find what we are looking for first time.

These types of pieces of information can lead to uncovering a suitable alternative. That is, you find one thing which helps find another. Sharing what we find may help someone else work from there. Clearly I wasted my time as you expect the alternative to materialise from a puff of smoke and will not accept anything less.

BT Phonebook lists only the 0870 number, albeit the company is mispelled as "Label Line".

Perhaps you could e-mail them and ask them for the 01271 number. Bearing in mind that there is no revenue sharing on 0870 now (and this has been the case for just over a year now), they have little reason not to give the geographic number to you.

The Internet Archive allows one to view websites as they used to be.

In 1999, Labeline was based in Surrey with 01 numbers shown. The 0870 phone and fax numbers appeared in early 2004 at which time the company was still based in Surrey. Perhaps they had been brought in because of an impending move to Devon.

This makes me think that the geographic numbers for the Barnstaple site have never been publicised.
