Hello... before i post my request, i'd like to extend my thanks to everyone in this foram and to its moderators for the excillent work they've done for all of us. This is my first time to post a request but i was using the search engine of the sight for some time so far.

I'd like to be assisted with my local GP's geo number as they have recently switch to a non-geo numbers. Their complete details are as following if any of you can help. They have only one geo number in their sight but that's for repete priscriptions only.

GP name: Pitsmoor Surgery.
GP Tel no: 0845 122 2231
GP fax no: 01142760169.
GP address: 151 Burngreave Road, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S3 9DL.
Web address: www.pitsmoorsurgery.co.uk/ -

Thanks ever so much.
Yours faithfully.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I've found the following which might help us:

E-mail addresses are firstname.lastname@gp-c88008.nhs.uk
C88008 is the surgery's number

(0114) 276 2644 is a direct number to a member of staff at the surgery and may be a significant clue. Usually, direct numbers are in the same range, so say 276 264x and maybe below and above this. The reception or switchboard is often the first in the sequence and expect that they are allocated in blocks of 10 (ending 0 to 9).

So for reception, you could try 276 2600, 276 2610, 276 2620 etc.

So as to aid me in listing a suitable alternative for others to use, do let me know what you try, and what you find out.

Hi Dave, thanks very much for your urgent response.

I've used your hint and tryed different numbers above and below 2644 and none of them does not seemed to be theiralternative tel-number. For instance, i tryed 0114-276-2600, 2610, 20, 30, 40. And 2611, 2622, 2633, 2644 (private number for a member of staff in the surgery) and so on. I've even used 2601, 02, 03, etc. Some of the numbers were answered by other people (private home phone numbers) and i'm sure i've appologised a lot to a different people!

However, we have some clue and we should not give up. Please try different sources if available.

Once again, thanks Dave.

Yours sincerely.

Hi

A couple of the doctors at the surgery are listed here http://uk.local.yahoo.com/Sheffield/S3/South_Yorkshire/Doctors/uk100006006-s-267... with the number (0114) 272 ****.
Might be worth a try.

Edited:
Digits redacted as it is now a private number.

Hello Dave, thanks for your response. I've tryed the number provided (0114-272****) and it was a private home number. I've also followed the yahoo search link and couldn't find any relevant number/name. I'm visually impaired (totally blind) and using screen reading programme helping me to navigate through and i think i'm sometimes missing important information. I therefore wish members including the moderator to be aware of this and to be more explicit when providing information or responding to my requests. That's an exceptional treatment and special please.

Once again, thank you Dave.

Thanks for the feedback. The previous suggestion was made by member "mainbass", and not by myself.

I have removed the last few digits of the number which starts 272, from the postings in this thread. I don't want people reading it here and ringing it. If it's the old number for this surgery, then the new recipient probably gets calls for the surgery.

Finding an alternative number is often suck it and see. In this case, it's resulted in calls to private residences and not the surgery in question. I'm not sure what else to suggest that may be more likely to suceed.

What I do know is that the vast majority of surgeries in Sheffield have 0845 numbers. Most surgeries that use numbers which start 084 use 0844 ones, rather than 0845 numbers.

Perhaps you could write to your MP about this. You could point out that it costs you more than a call to a local number to ring your doctor. The previous government decided that all patients will pay no more than the cost of a local call, and GPs have until March 2011 to ensure that this is the case.

Hello and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM.

I've decided to remove the link to the page you pointed to which gave a 01722 number followed by extension number, apparently for this surgery. The link to WhatClinic.com's homepage remains.

I'm concerned that this is not a direct number. It has probably been set-up by a third party and directed to the surgery's number.

Hi, thanks to Dave and Grun. To Dave, i'll write to the local Counciler as well as the MP about this. I don't know why GPs has switched to the non-geo numbers. Are they gaining particular benefit out of that? I don't know!

To Grun, i've followed the link you've suggested, and it led me to the following number: 01722638012 which once dialed, asking for a five digit extention number. I do not have a particular extention for my GP. However, thank you for your atempt.

Thanks all.
