Lloyds TSB Car Insurance
Dec 6th, 2010 at 7:18pm

Hi All

I have done a search for a geo number for the claims dept of Lloyds car insurance but it only comes up with 0800 numbers which obviously charge from a mobile. If anyone could get me a 01/02/03 number for them, I would be most grateful as they appear to be 0845 otherwise.

Many thanks

As you're asking for help finding a number, please supply basic information known to you to those you are asking for help from. Notably, the name and address of the insurer, including claims department, if different. The 08 number published by your insurer.

Hi

Yes, sorry, I didn't realise I would need so much!

The number is 0845 605 9306 and thier address is

Lloyds TSB Car Insurance
PO Box 96
Ipswich
Suffolk
IP1 3BU

I've had dealings with them before and have always been refused a geo number, so I would be grateful if a super sleuth could find one for the claims dept.

Thanks, that's useful.

This is a PO Box rather than a physical location. Like many insurance policies operated under a bank's name, Lloyds TSB Car Insurance is underwritten by a third party, in this case Churchill Insurance. This information is given at:

http://www.lloydstsb.com/insurance/car/car_insurance.asp

A search of our database for Churchill reveals no Ipswich (01473) numbers. However, putting churchill insurance ipswich returns a number of links to pages which give the address and phone:

Churchill Ltd
31 Princes Street
Ipswich
Suffolk
IP1 1PU

Tel: (01473) 546700

This page gives the same address with telephone (01473) 345500.

Be aware that these numbers could be the general office switchboard and therefore are only likely to be available between normal office hours such as 9am to 5pm. It is possible that they may have an option to be put through to customer services out of hours, so don't necessarily discount them.

As you say, there is an alternative of 0800 032 9450 listed as verified alongside the 0845 number. If calling from a mobile, so-called "freephone" numbers (0800/0808/0500) need not be an issue as there are a number of dial through providers around, eg 020 0222 0900. Ring the number, then when it answers it will prompt you for the destination number. As it's a geographic number, you will be billed as a geographic call.

I tried the dial through number on my mobile and when I put the 0800 number for Lloyds in my phone told me I would be charged for the call so I ended it. Am I being daft? Will it still say that anyway but not charge me...i hate these numbers!

0500, 0800 and 0808 dialling is free on giffgaff.

You'll need an O2 or unlocked phone for a giffgaff SIM to work though.

I'm unsure as to what point you got the message.

I have just tried the 0800 number and it isn't on that. I then dialled it via the 020 number and didn't get such a message.

Once you have entered 02002220900 you press the send button ("telephone of the hook" or green button on some phones). When it answers, you input the 0800 number, but do not press the send button again (if you did, that may explain such a message).

Remember, you will be billed as per a geographic call. So if you have inclusive minutes, it will come from them or if you don't have inclusive minutes (or you've exceeded them) then you will pay the appropriate per minute charge for a 01/02/03 call.
