KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
Jan 17th, 2011 at 12:48am

Having suffered a cancelled flight by KLM it seems that even making contact with their customer services they want you to ring an 0871 number at 10p a minute. Does anyone have a normal gegraphical number for 0871 222 0522 please.

Thanks

Lamby, you have made five requests for help over the years, none of which you have told us whether the number(s) suggested worked successfully or not, despite being asked.

This website works by people helping others and those being offered help reciprocating by confirming any alternative so it may be listed to help others. So please post feedback on the other requests you have made on respective threads so as to assist others out there looking for an alternative to the same number or company.

Additionally, you have usually given a company name, 08 number and occasionally a vague location of the business in question, leaving others to find the address which you have eluded to (unless you expect we go ringing the 08 numbers to find out where businesses are!  Roll Eyes).

So please provide feedback and basic information so that others don't have to do the spadework as suggested in the instructions.

Dave, I am grateful for the information provided and am sorry that I haven't responded accordingly.
I thought I had responded to the tel number for Velmex, if you check back, in stating that one of the numbers provided did not correspond with their address but the other 0208 646 9990 which I have now used is fine. I will advise further re KLM once established.

Thanks again. Embarrassed Smiley

Thanks, no problem. I've listed this as verified.  Smiley

I went through some airlines' numbers, including those for Air France - KLM following the snow last month which caused a lot of disruption with flights.

Do a search for
klm
to show them all. A number remain unverified with either no 08 number alongside them or 0870 ones. This company has switched from 0870 to 0871, so these may be the old 08 numbers and therefore may be suitable alternatives for their sucessor 0871 numbers. E.g. 020 8750 9950 is presently unverified as being for Customer Support.

I see that KLM contact page says that the 0871 222 0522 is for KLM Customer Care. The address is a Paris one: KLM – Europe Customer Care Centre (regarding other claims) TSA 21235 75564 PARIS Cedex 12 FRANCE.

What is the 0871 number? Main reservations is 0871 231 0000, and when I did my check last month I called it to see how it answers. It is near enough the same as +31204747747 (which is proceeded with a request to press 2 for English), so I concluded that the 0871 231 0000 number is answered in the Netherlands and listed the +31204747747 number as its alternative.

If you are with BT or another provider which bills 0870 calls the same as 01/02/03 ones, then you can use the old 0870 number which still gets through to the same place: 0870 243 0541.

The KLM contact page for France gives the KLM Service Centre number as 0033 1 71-23-00-17 which is a geographic number for Paris and has an option for English on. This is why the address is useful; the one I posted above from the UK contact page is a Paris one, which suggests that calls may be answered there.

I'm with Talk Talk that does not include 08 numbers hence wishing to use the SayNo site.

I will try and find out what other 0870/1 numbers cover customer care and advise later but in any event it seems their 0871 numbers are saving customers ringing the European numbers !

I believe that TalkTalk generally bills 0870 and 0845 numbers the same as 01/02/03 numbers. I say "generally" because there may be some tariffs which do not, so you will have to check to be totally sure.

Talk UK Evening & Weekend and Talk UK Anytime definately do (see those links).  Wink

If they do, then use 0870 243 0541.

Line providers such as BT and TalkTalk usually charge international destinations such as France and the Netherlands at higher rates than they do for 0871 numbers.

However, there are a number of dial-through call providers available such as 18185 which allow international calls for far cheaper than the cost of a 0871 (or even 0844) call.

My tariff package excludes 0870 and 0871 numbers but does include free calls to European countries and the USA, so in my case ringing a KLM number in France would not cost me anything (as long as it's not a number equivilent to our 0870/1 numbers. I once was dially a Spanish number repeatedly knowing it should be at no charge and it kept giving me the unobtainable tone when using Talk Talk but not a BT line. I found out later that the reason for this was that unknown to me it was a higher cost call centre number so Talk Talk block it so as not to run up a high call charge.

Ah right, so you can ring the Paris number as part of your inclusive package.  Smiley

As an "alternative to their 0871 number" (sorry, they didn't specify the rest of the digits), "KLM Cares" offers the International Freephone number:

00 800 55 622 737 or +800 55 622 737.

This should be a free call from a UK landline, indeed any landline anywhere in the world. No idea what the charge will be from a mobile phone.

It would be a free call, if it were in service. A call to it from a BT landline returns "not recognised".
