Maplin Electronics (Read 18,179 times)

JOVE Newbie Offline Posts: 9	Maplin Electronics Feb 11^th, 2011 at 9:29am Does anyone have a number for Maplin in Salisbury, Wilts? I have protested about their 0843 numbers. I have also asked another store but their stores know only the 0843 numbers for other stores.

It would be helpful if you posted the 0843 number instead of leaving us to find it.

The information eluded to in the OP (including this store's address) can be found on the company's website:

Phone number is 0843 227 7468 and the alternative is 01722 417644, as listed on the company's website last year before they changed to 0843 numbers. I have now added this to the database.

I'm glad you could look at last year's website. You do wonder whether these companies want to do business; this sort of thing was unheard of in the USA when I lived there.

Thanks for pointing out my incorrect use of "eluded"; I've looked in the dictionary and now appreciate the difference between "eluded" and "alluded". Embarrassed

I saved a copy of the page from Google's cache (with 01/02 numbers on) in July just after Maplin switched the numbers on its site. Wink

I've checked BT Phonebook, Yell.com, 192.com and Thomson Local and all return a blank.

Not surprising really. Maplin stores we're (and may still be) listed in BT Phonebook, probably those entered before they went to 0843. But now it looks like they're keeping them secret.

The best advice I can give is to ring another branch(es) and see if the person who answers will give you the geographic number for Loughborough.

Or alternatively, shop somewhere else. Since Maplin has grown, its prices are now up there and stuff can be bought elsewhere. Online such as eBay for hobby and electronics bits I suggest.

However they have a part I need today (reasonably priced ) and I want to go and collect it - but need to ring to confirm it is in stock. I will see if the Leicester store will give me the Loughborough Geographic number.
