I needed to call Barclays help desk about my online banking, the paper statement had an 08X number but also stated that if calling from overseas to use this number 44 21xxxxx.  I replaced the 44 with a zero and got through with no problem.  Wacko numbers here, I shredded the document and don't remember the real ones.  Also I didn't post the number for the same reason.

I have tried that dodge for phone banking 0247 6842100 and it worked reached usual menu - and will be trying it again Tues to cancel AA D/D - will comfirm later today if it still works.
