The only point worth making is that these calls by dint of what they are (revenue share calls not subject to normal 01, 02, 03 call tariffs) will never be included in inclusive landline or mobile phone call bundles and that most members of the public now have buying call bundles forced upon them by BT's ever spiralling connection charge and per minute rate for any out of bundle calls.

Therefore the member of the public's extra marginal cost is the whole connection charge plus per minute rate that they would not pay at all to an 01/02/03 number for which they have a call plan were the Blue badge scheme to have partnered with an agency using such normal rate numbers.

SCV will of course unfortunately encourage us to play the opposition's game by rabbiting on about Access Charges and so on.  Personally I would have truck with none of this, which is all telco shyster land speak.  I would just stick to the simple point that the average disabled person on a budget stuck at home will have a landline Anytime calls plan but these calls will not be part of that call plan and so the caller will have to pay the whole additional call cost.  And it is not just this call but the cost of calling 101 other shyster government contact centres and shyster telcos who have not been prevented by regulatory dictat from going down the same shyster (aka MBA) led ripoff route.

The Blue Badge Helpline has now changed to an 0343 number.

https://www.gov.uk/apply-blue-badge

This number is operated by local councils but overall responsibility for it rests with the Department for Transport. It appears that DfT simply overlooked this number when they changed all of their other numbers to comply with Cabinet Office guidance several years ago.

A simple nudge of the relevant person by the Fair Telecoms Campaign was all that was required to effect the change.

Thank you Ian,

I have added this number (as well as the Scotland and Wales numbers) to the Database Smiley
