Car Care Plan Limited came up on my radar a number of years ago. I received some literature for the Vauxhal branded "product" on which a 0870 number was quoted. I
wrote expressing my disgust that (at the time) the 0870 number meant that I was paying them in addition to the premium.
I subsequently worked out that they used various 0870 752 70xx numbers for the different policies on behalf of different companies and that the alternatives were 01274 2601xx. I listed quite a few of these numbers in the database with a note to say that they were provided by Car Care Plan Ltd. A search of that would have returned them all!
(sherbert, you've gone back to square one by looking on 192.com. The SayNoTo0870 database is often a good source of clues for companies that are already listed.
)
Whilst the 0870 numbers still function now, they have been replaced with 0844 573 80xx and again, 01274 2601xx seems generally to work as the alternative. A couple of entries even had their new 0844 573 80xx number in.
I've now updated the listings, and each entry has a 0870, 0844 and 01274 number.
As for the numbers provided by blueban, 01274 2601
05 matches 0844 573 80
05. It is a generic "Car Care Plan" menu, the same as 260100. A lot of the others use the same male voiceover with the same or similar options, but identify what they are for. E.g. the ones ending 20 are "Vauxhall Retailer Warranties".
The breakdown number, 0844 573 8062, would appear to be an anomaly. Its alternative is no 01274 260162 as this goes through to reception. The 0844 number answers immediately with a female voiced recording saying that calls may be recorded, followed by some distinctive long burst (internal type) ringing before being answered. This voice and ringing does not match those of other Car Care Plan numbers, so I wonder if these calls are dealt with elsewhere, perhaps by another company. Can we find out what that company is and where it's based?
You could try accessing breakdown from the menu on 260105.
Should you find an alternative, please let us know so that we can list it. I would urge caution by suggesting that you always carry the published 0844 number with you, along with the alternative as if the alternative does not function when you come to need it (in an emergency), you may have to resort to using the 0844 number.
